Re: GTS Full Partout Socal Lots of Aftermarket Parts

Is the transmission still available? Was there any problems or noises coming from the transmission?

Coupe rear side moulding part numbers.

I was trying to find the part numbers for an 87 coupe rear side moulding but all I could find was the one for a hatch. Anyone have the part numbers for a coupe? Thanks.

Someone tried to break into my car.

Just wanted some opinions on how I should go about fixing the lock on my car. Here's picture of the lock how it looks now. The door is kind of bent up but I think I should be able to hammer it back out. http://i.imgur.com/TAtYG0j.jpg I was just wondering if I can replace the lock with a new stock on...

Front lower control arm bushings

Are you supposed to be able to remove the ball joints on the front lower control arms.

Re: DIY Replace Control Arm Bushings

Thanks for the tip. I saw a lot of bad reviews about how brittle the pitman puller was. Did you have any issues with it?

DIY Replace Control Arm Bushings

Just thought I would create a DIY on how to replace the control arm bushings without having to use a large press or trying to burn them out. The tool need for this job is the ball joint service kit. You can get this kit either from Harbor Freight (Item#4065) or some auto parts places let you rent sp...

Re: Some Sort of Vibration Noise?

Some good advice I got on my vibration problem was to hit the clutch when the vibration was happening. If it stops vibrating right after you hit the clutch then it is probably not your drive-shaft. The only way to fix the pinion angle is like KonaTrueno723 said about shimming the transmission mount ...

Re: Vibration after installing new poly bushing on the rear

I was able to test hitting the clutch while it was vibrating yesterday. At about 3500rpm I would let off the gas and it would start to vibrate and it would stop vibrating the second I hit the clutch. So it does not look like it is the drive shaft after all. I will be checking the transmission mount ...

Re: Vibration after installing new poly bushing on the rear

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I have not been able to get under the car yet to try anything yet. That is a good idea to put the car in neutral when it is vibrating on the road. I will keep you guys posted on my progress. gotzoom: So I'm guessing by what you said that the 87 GTS has the shell ty...

Vibration after installing new poly bushing on the rear end.

I just replaced the bushings on the upper, lower control arm, stabilizer bar and tension rod only on the rear end. Now there is a vibration that vibrates the whole car when I accelerate. It's not that bad when I accelerate but it's really bad when I am in 2nd or 3rd gear at about 4000rpm and I let o...

Re: 4age 16v timing problem

Thank you for the responses. I will try both of your suggestions tonight. I didn't touch the pickups but I will check it anyways because it might have moved when I was working on it. The gear is on top to bottom how it shows on the rebuild guild but the 180 degrees off does sounds like it could be t...

4age 16v timing problem

I rebuilt my distributor with the kbox rebuild kit and now I can't get the timing set right. Ever time I try to line up the rotor it either will go to 20 or jump down to 0 degrees like I'm off a tooth in the middle. Can the new cotter pin get in the way of the gears? Or is there something else I cou...

Replacing stock exhaust manifold.

My exhaust manifold is cracked and needs to be replaced. I will be keeping the motor mostly stock and will never be going over 150hp. So should I just replace the stock manifold or go with an aftermarket option? If aftermarket then can you point me in the right direction to purchase one. :)
