Re: Red Death Revival: Beams
I realized I havent REALLY updated this in a while. I've been doing a lot. I broke my GTS rear end and picked up an MA46 supra unit to replace it, rebuilt with 4.3 gears, welded diff, weir solid pinion spacer and all that good stuff. Converted it for use on 86 by welding some washers on to the upper...

been hard at work getting this thing ready for spring. changed the whole front steering/arm setup and in the process of fitting an ma46 supra rear. at least I got to test fit the new wheels. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d123/LongGrain/340E71DF-D41C-40CA-A66F-6178043BEECB_zpso6inlzja.jpg

Re: Are rear spring insulators optional?
i've ran with mine in and out, I cant tell any difference with noise or anything. they are so thin, any height change will be extremely marginal. In my opinion, if you have them and they are in decent shape, might as well use them. If yours are in bad shape and need replacing, IMO i wouldnt bother s...

Just wanna run it stock for now until I build my suspension, then save for a adaptronics and use my itbs then get a better clutch setup ha I understand all that, but the way you want to do it means doing everything twice.. Spend the money, do it once, do it right and you wont have to do the work al...

Re: 3sge beams clutch
the yen exchange rate is so good right now, you should do yourself a favor and get yourself a nice single plate clutch kit to get rid of the shitty dual mass flywheel as well. Kill two birds with one stone.

all depends on the buyer though. To me, those wheels are worth nothing because they've been rebarreled. In my eyes, the second you crack open a set of nice vintage wheels to put some modern style barrels on them, they are ruined.

Re: The 50MPG Beams AE86 Build
I'm so confused at this thread. One minute its supposed to be a hypermiler, the next it's a drift car. What are you trying to do here? the J160 has short gears, the 6th gear is even shorter than 5th gear in a T50. The only way you're going to get 50mpg (which you're not) is by running a really tall...

Re: Rear one peice coils t3, qa1, Ksport, pbm
MCN sport uses a 1.9" spring in the rear to avoid needing a huge stupid top hat. You can replace springs with other brands like swift and eibach if you want, they make this size.. still baffled at the 10k rear rate, track car or not. Our cars are too light to need that, regardless of the setup....

Re: Rear end in AE86 that can take 350hp.
sounds like ring and pinion failure, which almost exclusively happens as a result of crush sleeve failure, solid pinion spacer would fix that. afaik there is no such thing as a 7.8" toyota rear end. Cressida uses a 7.5 new ring and pinion with a solid spacer from weir with a proper setup and yo...

Re: Rear end in AE86 that can take 350hp.
I'm not familiar with what rear end is in the cressida, or which cressida you have a rear end from. but MA46 supra axle should hold up to that kind of power, especially if you get forged axles from weir. This requires the least amount of fab work. tacoma 8" rear end and ford 8.8 will be stronge...

^^^ that will not achieve the end result that most people with ae86 are after. If OP wants the classic "bubble" flare that most people do, it takes quite a bit of hammering and shaping the metal on both the inside and outside, then a thin layer of filler to smooth out the ripples and, fina...

The beams spacing is a bit different, but the adapters place the throttles very close to the stock 20v spacing so that all of the normal linkages/connections work properly. But looking at the wear marks on the adjustment screw contacts, it looks like the middle two might be just a mm or 2 off from w...
