Re: Ae86 vs Euro stuff on the track
Thanks guys. We just inspected the engine as preventive maintenance after 4 hours total racing time (practice, qualy and race) with 8300rpm rev limiter on stock rods, crank and oiling system. No wear whatsoever, rod bearings were perfect. We will move to 8500rpm limiter, the engine is still making p...

Ae86 vs Euro stuff on the track
Once a year in Chile we have this freak race. It´s 3 hours long, organized by the local "Classic Sports Car Association". It´s mostly filled with BMW, Fiat and VWs, with limited amount of modifications permitted. But this year they invited some GT3 Cup cars and also the Fiat Abarth 1000 Cu...

Chasing a 911 in the AE86
This is a 156whp, 900 Kg AE86. Dual Weber 45`s and HKS 272 cams.
Stock gearbox, stock brakes and a really shitty suspension setup.

Yes, that´s the plan, taiwan special + custom spring rates.
Right now, ANYTHING will be an improvement over the current setup lol.

Re: Vid: Racing my AE86 against some serious machines
I wanted the Greddy coilover setup but apparently it is discontinued.
Not many options left but korea/taiwan coilovers (KSports, D2, etc).

It´s on TRD springs and stock shocks. Not a good combo! Moving to a better setup soon... no offense taken!

Re: Vid: Racing my AE86 against some serious machines
It´s not a complex setup:
- 45mm dual Webers
- Wiseco high compression pistons
- HKS 272 cams
Stock valvetrain, stock bigport head, stock crankshaft and rods, etc. I put up a thread about the engine a while ago.

Re: Carbed 4AG results - 152 whp
Allen, venturis are 36mm, will try 32 on the next dyno session. Rest of the sizes only the builder knows, I can find that out if you need it. Crown, yes, I´m not sure the stock crank and oiling system are up to par for frequent visits to the 8.500+ rpms zone. I road race the car. The car had it firs...

Re: Carbed 4AG results - 152 whp
Final static compression is 13.0:1 Timing is 32° from 3000rpms onwards (as I said, primitive timing control). As for the stock valvetrain handling 8k+, stock redline on the JDM engine was 7700rpms IIRC, so 8.300 rpms (current rev limit) should be possible with appropiate valve springs and correct ba...

Re: Carbed 4AG results - 152 whp
Yes, first dyno test, still need to improve on a few areas: A/F is one, the other is that the car is running fixed advance :o (it does have a primitive MSD retard, but this is far from optimal). Off the shelf Wisecos. Nothing too fancy. Regarding headwork, it is fairly minimal, just removed castings...

Weber DCOE carb settings
Engine is a 4AGE, 12:1 compression, HKS 272 cams, bigport head.
Carbs are 45mm Weber DCOE.
Anyone have settings for a similar setup to use as baseline? Being my first carbed project, this is looking quite daunting.
Thanks!
