40mm crank, pistons, rods

I have recently acquired a corolla block and head. The head is not for sale but the crankshaft, pistons and conrods are all for sale. I would prefer these go together. They were removed from a car that had done 85k miles and they are all in excellent condition. I will post up pictures later on when ...

Re: Future Build Components

How is it possible to raise the RPM limit on the standard ECU? Mine cuts fuel or ignition off at 7.6k

I've never had to buy conrods before, are they worth it?

Cheers

Re: Future Build Components

So I've got my free engine now. It's not got inlet or exhaust manifolds, but that's not an issue. It's a 3-rib, 40mm crank that's done 85k miles so that's very low compared to engines on eBay etc. I also now have the mk1b crank which is in great condition! But i'm faced with having to buy conrods as...

Re: Future Build Components

If I reuse my 252/260 cams, i'm assuming the extra compression will help them out quite a lot? Currently its 10:2 but hoping to go for 11:8

Re: Future Build Components

Hi Yoshi, I am getting a polished and balanced 42mm crank from my mate for £50 so no issue there nor is an engine builder. There is an older fellow I know who has built formula atlantic engines in the past and has had high powered n/a corollas built in his garage as well, so I'm in good hands ;) He'...

I was going to have some head work done as well, port matching and to remove all the unnecessary material like I've seen on one of 'oldeskewltoy' threads somewhere. Re: Future Build Components

We also have our valve springs. They are a little cheaper and great for most cams up to about 10mm. http://www.matrixgarage.com/products/matrix-garage-16v-valve-springs You do however want to be careful with oversized valves. People often don't realize how much the mass of a valve effects it. Overs...

Yeah I know about the crank in that block, I'd just rather not remove my engine and not be able to use the car whilst I'm building the engine is all plus it's a free engine. I have been told it's not typical but it can still take good power through it. Plus it's coming from a very reputable source s...

Headers

Are there any decent headers out there for the MR2? I can have the 20v modified but it seems like a lot of work and 20valvers aren't very common in the UK.

I can have someone bring one over to the UK from the States for me, but I am not keen on the OBX quality...

Any ideas?

For sale is my stainless steel Janspeed full Exhaust System Pictures will come on tonight when I've cleaned it up. Re: TVIS & Bigger Cams

As suggested you might try playing with the cam timing. Those are tiny cams so with your small compression bump the low end should feel similar to stock. this......... although the intake cam duration is a bit more then "tiny" at 230 degrees duration @ .050"(1.2mm) this cam is closer...

Re: TVIS & Bigger Cams

The TVIS should always be a benefit to low end. The only reason to remove it is when the whole intake becomes such a restriction to top end performance that it's worth sacrificing the low end losses for much more top end with a completely different manifold setup or ITBs. I've just got sod all low ...

TVIS & Bigger Cams

Hi all, I am currently running some Cat Cams 252/260 with 8.5/9.0 lift on the standard ECU. Idle when up to temperature is okay at around 1k rpm, no issues with that. The engine is from a Corolla originally with 9:4:1 compression, but upped it to about 10:21. Issue I am having, which is probably dow...
