Re: Hesitation @ lower rpm

UPDATE: Had some time today so I thought it'd try to figure this hesitation out. So i tested the resistance of all the terminals on the afm per the service manuals..... everything checked out perfect and i also checked the afm door inside to make sure it was not binding up... it was silky smooth wit...

Re: Hesitation @ lower rpm

If you have an AFM, check that the flap inside is free to move and not binding or sticking at low throttle openings. Cheers... jondee86 I do have an afm...i'll check it for sure.... thanks. Two probable causes, You do not have enough fuel pressure or the TPS functioning. Put a pressure gauge in the...

Btdc via diagnostics mode....but when i accelerate from a rolling or stop...@ ~1500-2000 rpm in 1st gear, the car really stumbles and really ...

Re: Radio wiring help....

That sounds familiar about the blue wire on the stereo harness. It's been a while since I messed with my wagon's stereo, but I seem to recall using a wire off the stereo to tell an amp to turn on. About the reverse harness, I think for some of those the wires will be labeled with text like "ri...

Re: notnilc20's 1986 ae86 Hatch build/restoration

One suggestion on the setting up the TPS. The bottom screw attaching the TPS to the TB, can be a real PITA when it comes to access. $hit can the stock Toyota screws and go to your local hardware store, in my case Home Depot and get two Allen Socket screws. They should be 4mm - 0.7thds x 12mm lg. Li...

Re: Idle adjuster.... why is it blocked off?

Remove the throttlebody from the intake manifold and point it towards a light source as if you were trying to look down the throat of the throttlebody. Then open the butterfly slightly. You will see a thin crescent of light appear on the edge of the butterfly. Because of the high contrast you can e...

Measuring pinion angle and install an adjustable panhard or lateral bar then make some fine tuning adjustments to center that rear end.

Forgot to mention Jondee that when I take the wire out of the diagnostic plug the car dies and then if I try to start the car after that it just cranks over on and on and on and never starts.

Re: Idle adjuster.... why is it blocked off?

Can't think of any reason why the engine should die because you pull the wire out :? I would suggest that once you have set the TPS according to the details given in my post above, you test the TPS. There are specific resistance ranges that apply when you test between the pins, and you need to veri...

Re: Idle adjuster.... why is it blocked off?

I vote sticky! Such great information Jondee....Ok great.....well this gives me hope that I can get the car set at optimal timing. So if after you remove the wire from diagnostics plug the idle might increase slightly due to the fact that there will be a slight difference of 5-6 deg of timing btdc.....
