Is this an engine conversion or did the car come with installed engine from the factory? If it is factory then it could be the TPS. Try doing a diagnostic test and report results.

It sounds like it is over fuelling but I'm not sure that there is an error code for that when the engine is first started as the O2 sensor is not reporting. Have you checked for stored error codes? Maybe try disconnecting the cold start injector to see if there is a difference?

Be careful with the universal AEM - 4 ecu if you want to run it with the original distributor sensors, the VR signals need reversing and the universal AEM cannot do this.

Assassin Andrew has written many great articles on AE86 suspension and I agree with him on the Koni's, they are a good damper and if you are adventurous they are easily modified by substituting different oil viscosity.

Aim to keep the front LCA's at the factory angles, either by using roll centre adjusters if you want to lower the car or by keeping the ride height close to stock.
