The average 86 owner nowaday is a much more mature and informed owner and honestly of all the other car forums, 86 owners are the most humble, respectful and knowledgeable people...i never think twice about doing business with a forum member but i cant say that about other car communities lol True ...

Yep, only LHD. Toyota Japan in those days had the Vista Store or Boutique where you could buy the Trueno nosed models and the Corolla Store for the Levin nosed models. Weird but interesting 8-) . By the front grill of Mr Cris's AE86 it looks to be like the early (Zenki?) model, a 1984 model. I coul...

The radial bearings are highly recommended on AE86 applications. We noticed the steering effort and feedback is improved with the radial bearings as well. Car looks amazing man, keep up the good work. Thank you!! Kind of funny you mention that though, because I literally just got mine in the mail l...

Only the US and some middle eastern countries got the Trueno (pop up headlights) AE86s. The rest of the world got the Levins. Know your hachi-roku history my young padawan. ;) ;) I knew they existed, but never actually seen one. Factory LHD Levins were Euro-spec only. You forgot Japan, btw Lol (unl...

This doesn't look good.... not only is the one pair of ports longer, and more oddly shaped(more drag??), but they are narrower as well??? Can't tell for sure until I get this on the bench... but I do not expect equal results...... :( http://ost.ebeans.ch/albums/userpics/10005/port_width_difference....

Speed Master Racing
Has anyone ever used or heard of Speed Master Racing? http://www.smr2u.com/ ?
They look like they have a good selection of all sorts of 4age goodies, especially an ITB kit and a sweet looking high-rise header for rhd ae86s.
Only thing, they're based out of Malaysia ........

Vintage Volk Racing mesh Front: 14x6, 175/65 tires Rear: 14x6.5, 195/65 They could use some restoring, but there aren't any bends or rash. Looks like a very solid start!
I vote keeping it. The chances of finding a solid GTS for under 5k these days are VERY VERY slim.

Re: Steering rack woes
I used an '83 Trueno GT Apex chassis number and my '87 Trueno GT Apex chassis number for comparison on the Toyota EPC. 45503-19015 is 83-87 manual racks and 83-85 P/S racks, both are quantity 2 so no left or right. 45503-19025 is 85-87 P/S racks also quantity 2. Then for the outers it seems that no...

Re: "Kentucky AE86: A Levin Story"
Sounds like a solid plan! BTW, I would definitely recommend at least swapping your crank pulley for a T3 or NST one...4AGE's have a bad habit of wearing out the keyway that centers and locks the pulley onto the front of the crank. Seen it happen so many times in various AW11s... Also, on the off ch...

Re: Steering rack woes
You sir, are correct. Early models with PS used the 45503-19015 + 45503-19045 Manual steering inner rods were the 45503-19015 (x2) Later PS models used 45503-19025 (x2) Take note of the dates in which each part was made. You can see where the 45503-19015 and 45503-19045 were both produced from 83-85...

Another update! If someone does decide to get these, make sure you pay attention to the pre-load specs that are given in the little instructions book. The fronts require exactly 1/4 inch of preload from uncompressed. If not, you might get tons of spring noises when turning. I know it was the springs...

Thanks for the responses fellas! All very good points and stuff definitely worth considering. Oem crank pulley does have rubber so there is prob some damper affect. This has been much debated and is prob negligible. Its down to the end user using a solid pulley. Other than that t3 uses and underdriv...
