Re: OST-024: It's been way too long
Looks good! When you are using the burrette to cc the combustion chambers, how do you keep them the same volume? Not easy... BUT I typically do the following... 1) remove the material that promotes pre-ignition clear to the "joggles", 2) measure chambers once all are @ 90% complete, 3) kn...

Re: OST-024: It's been way too long
Would the same be worth doing for the block? There can be some nasty casting lines in there. I did some casting line removal on the '97 4A-FE block I'll be using for my build. Hardest place to reach was the oil drain back from the head, with the divider, whatever that's called. I couldn't get my Dr...

Re: 4AG w/TVIS engine mods
Hi All, Beginner here, so please bear with me. If I slap some cams in my 4AG to get a bigger valve lift, do I need to modify the pistons to accommodate the extra lift? And if I shaved the head a bit, same question? Thanks, Brian slapping in cams... you can lose power by incorrectly installin...

If you don't want to wait for ebay for a FSM (factory service manual), you can frequently get them from here - http://www.faxonautoliterature.com You don't need an air compressor, and unless you KNOW what you are doing... it is likely far better for you to NOT use air tools... http://www.club4ag.com...

right, but are they (7a) running 10k rpm, which means it will have to have an even higher rev tolerance to sustain a 10k rpm redline, right? mis shifts and everything. and what do those engines run price wise? What I'm particularly interested in is the final squish (final distance of pistons edge to flat edge of head)

Are you using a OEM crank or an aftermarket crank?

Re: Looking at these forged pistons...
... the simple facts are the 4AG head basically runs flat (flow) @ about 7.2 mm or so. To optimize the 193B's 9mm of lift you really need a good porting job. Good information. So would porting alone get be enough, or would I have to go to bigger valves ? As you say, bigger valves are a major step u...

coated bearings are fine for engines that come apart every 1000-5000 miles... you don't want coated bearings in a 60k+ mile type engine.

What are you planning on using this for? What engine management do you intend to use?
Stock blacktop is 11 to 1... no reason you can't use that as a basis to build the stroker
