Re: What do you love about the 86?
The fact that I was there when these cars were newly intro'ed in late 1983. A new SR trimmed AE86 cost $4k and a 4AGE equipped GT was around $6.5k. And I test drove one SR.... hence I luuuuv them.... just that test drive.

Any FWD AE Corolla or AT Celica with the 7A-FE engine. In decent condition, of course as these models have decent torque with decent fuel consumption.

Clean job!!! One question, in this case with all this maching going on what are the changes relating to piston-valve, valve timing etc.(I know about the tensioner but in the 4AG)? Drastic or only mild re-adjustment?

Nice work man. I've seen on stock 7MGE heads that it's always been cyl no. 3 or 5 that fails somehow to deliver based on how the pistons look after disassembly.

Re: Toyota Carina AA63 3 years and going...
Welcome man. Nice and somewhat rare Carina you have. This body style is the later model years of AA63 which came with the A engines (duh!), and if your's has a 4AGE engine then it should have IRS also. 8-) The earlier TA63 initially came with the T-engines (2T, 2T-B, 13T and the titanic 3T-GTE). The...

Re: Attracting the Wrong Kind of Attention
Me also, way back in the late nineties when I tried to turbo the 4AGE. But they used mud to sling at the FRONT. so I had to unbolt the hood, pressure wash the entire bulkhead/radiator taking off the FD3S intercooler to unclog the condensor.... effing genital heads.

Reminds me of the 3 *E86 with these R engines in them, one even has the stock slushbox stillattached to it. That combo came out of an RX80. All 3 with sidedraughts. These engines don't have anything over 5k rpms with stock cams but with such light SR trim chassises, the cars will slide very well.

Re: 3AC Turbo with 45 DVOE ?
Gosh!! Flashback to the mid-eighties. This was soooo long ago. The car was a Tercel 4WD wagon. Let me think. We've bent two 40mm alumuminised steel tubing for the turbo to connect to the stock exhaust manifold and heat wrap them. Why 40mm? The exhaust gasses must be kept hot and fastflowing. Make an...
