Techna-Fit does make a set for the AE92 GT-S. TOY-710SM The SM is for the smoked color. They also had red and blue, so the letters would be different. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Techna-Fit-Stainless-4-Brake-Lines-Kit-Smoke-for-1987-91-Toyota-COROLLA-GTS/264740215748 Looking back through my old emails,...

Bigport & Smallport distributor parts interchangeability
For USDM parts. I have what I am pretty sure is a stock SP distributor, came from a 1990 Geo Prizm GSi. And an MR2 dizzy which I know is OEM because it still has the Toyota part number decal. I set both to what I was pretty sure was TDC, but looking at the reluctors(?) inside, they aren't quite in t...

I didn't realize those Molnar 40-20 rods required modifying the block. I had bought a set years ago from Orion, but I never used them.

Re: Red Top Piston Max HP limit
Thanks. Yes my pistons have that unfortunate slot design. That combined with being cast vs forged makes me leery of them, but as I said, I wouldn't try pushing them too much anyway. And I'd be paying someone for tuning, who hopefully knows what they're doing.

Re: Red Top Piston Max HP limit
On a related note. For "3rd party" cast pistons, which don't already have a coating (whatever it is that was done on OEM 10.3:1 pistons), would having the domes ceramic coated help when pushing for higher-than-stock HP? I'm guessing it at least helps with heat dispersion and so prevents ho...

Good to know that the DNJ quality is OK. When I got my set years ago, the quality seemed decent.
If only someone at DNJ would change the oil return slot into oil return holes. Or does that not matter too much?

Re: OST-062: Mixed Breed Autocross Whip
The DNJ pistons have worked out well for people's builds? I still have a set that I never did use. I was planning to send them out for dome & skirt coating. But then I had changed my mind to doing a 7A-GE with late GZE pistons.

Re: Still building 7AGEs?
for AWD, a boosted 7AG (stock head/stock cam) will make more torque than you'd know what to do with A plain old journal bearing T28, T3 or small t3/t4 will do +1 on that, use the N/A manifold for best results. My main concern would be your tranny at that output level. Thankfully I do have the small...

Rogue All depends on what you want from your engine. I had made a topic here a few years ago ( link ). Basically I'm thinking around 350 crank HP, so that my AWD drivetrain will put down in the range of 250-300 HP. I was hung up on cam choice, and turbo choice. I was looking at the GTX series from ...

I have a 7AFE longblock that's been sitting in my garage for a few years now. Also have a smallport head, 8.9 GZE pistons, Matrix Garage rods, etc. All of it just waiting on me to finish some other car projects that I ought to finish first. I'd love to get my 3rd car running and out of the garage be...

Re: Freshly Rebuilt 20V Silvertop
Are you using the OEM oil cooler plate? There are two different types from what I understand, one of which angles the oil filter towards the front of the engine (timing belt side) a little bit. I believe it's the plate found on the MR2 and AE86. I think the AE92 GT-S is a flat plate. At least on my ...

if you happen to have a reference image so I know what I'm looking for, I might be able to find it in my pile of spare parts This is the best I can do, I'm not sure if this is what the part actually looks like. Do you have the bracket that goes from the MR2 exhaust manifold to the block? Should be an L shaped piece.

About the 7A blocks, I swear I saw that there were two different blocks. There is one with less support material near the bottom. I'll dig through my pics and see what I find. Edit: I found the pics I had. Apologies to whoever they belong to as I have no idea anymore. Unfortunately I don't have any ...

Whatever you do, don't do this:

Re: OST-056: Nasty.....
I've yet to see a Toyota application that uses that mount........... There's a small bracket that bolts to that part of the head. At least for the AE92 GTS. There's a hole in the top timing belt cover for it to stick out of. Then there's a plate which mounts from that bracket to the top of the alte...

A first gen is what came on the AE86, the 2nd gen is later http://ost.ebeans.ch/albums/userpics/10005/4AGE_TVIS_heads_early_late_annoted.jpg I have to wonder if Toyota had the MR / FWD mounting in mind...

The old school way of adjusting, making a new hole for the knock pin (whatever it's called) in the cam gear. Then add a new timing mark on the side of the tooth?

Some blocks have just a plug in that drain port, and some (AW11 for one) have a fancy draincock that you can attach a small hose to help keep the coolant from spilling all over.

Where will the head oil drain be plumbed into? There isn't an extra drain on this head. The 2 pipes at the back are for the coolant in, and out for the heater. Whoops :? I'm not used to seeing the RWD coolant piping. The one line looks like the smallport or the "aftermarket" drain you som...

I was talking to a machine shop recently about another engine I need to get rebuilt, and he mentioned a deck plate, something I've heard of before (though not for that particular engine). There's mention of deck plates in this article: http://club4ag.com/faq_and_tech_pages/4A-GE%20Engine%20Block.htm...

Re: Help or advice with power steering pump and alternator bracket
Hopefully not too off-topic... but how many other A family engine accessory brackets will line up using 4A-GE accessories? I think in the 4A-GE family, the RWD is incompatible with FWD? On a topic-related note, the AE92 GT-S also has the power steering pump mounted near the dizzy on the exhaust side...
