Re: rear suspension options

^Just had another look at those, and im tempted to try them. I could use the height adjustability. Its refreshing to see a 4.5k default spring rate. They even supply/market options going to down to 2.7k (what im using now, and like it); I can only wonder if the setup would be overdamped though. Also...

Re: NEED HELP with this strut banging noise VIDEO

Im assuming the problem will be apparent when you go over everything. It doesnt make sense that this issue would only be on one side if the spacers were the wrong size.

Re: New Aftermarket manual steering rack

Aw11 housing is the problem (part that bolts to x member). The actual rack is fine (e.g. what the quaife qsr replaces). If you center the rack (equal turns lock-to -lock from center), the overall tie rod length will be different on both sides - this causes the bump steer. You could prob adjust the t...

Re: NEED HELP with this strut banging noise VIDEO

After looking at the vids i agree with jondee86. If the top nut/bushing is on all the way - because you've run out of thread (not good btw) - then it has to be a spacing issue under the bearing. Maybe you forgot the spacer, or its the wrong size... Those are t3 spring top hats, right? Do they clear ...

Re: CloudStrife's AE88

You drive the car yet with those parts? Im curious about what appears to be the bgrs rear 4.5k springs - should be a decent match for the trd shocks. Fwiw I tried those shocks with swift 6k springs and trd 5.1k previously. I felt the car was noticeably under damped with the 6k springs. The 5.1k's we...

the 4/1 version came out later, late 90s, to 2000s.

Two versions of the 4-1 though; early ones didnt have heatshield mounts, and it appears the O2 flange is clocked different also.

I think its real. Collector looks correct (i.e. way better than obx). Good deal if so.

Edit: O2 flange is clocked 90* compared to mine, but i have an early version without the heatshield brackets.

Re: I think I broke my AE86

The 'milky things' under oil cap was prob just condensation from moisture in the crankcase. Not uncommon to see in cool weather. (You also may see it in the valve cover breather.) When the engine reached temp it returned to the sump.

Re: Bump steer after aw11 manual rack conversion

The idea of after market tie rods correcting bump steer, more specifically the spacers that go between the rod ends and knuckle, is a bit of a gimmick on an ae86. Its because of the 86's spindle/steering knuckle layout... if one uses an rca, the control arm and tie rod are spaced down equally to hel...

Re: AE86 Best Suspension Setup

Those are very interesting indeed. Good to know since they are a direct swap for my setup - damn near perfect dimensions. Its too bad they dont offer any lower spring rates. Lowest main/secondary rate is 6.2k. I agree about the flexibilty of added shock height adjustment with off the shelf coilovers...

Re: Bump steer after aw11 manual rack conversion

Think about the housing (part thats fixed to x member). Aw11 is 5/8" longer than ae86. That extra housing length all ends up on passenger side when installed on ae86, so its off centered. The inner tie rods limit the racks travel by contacting the housing. Think about it: Your choices with the ...

Re: AE86 Best Suspension Setup

Good question. As i understand it, generally speaking, 'helper' springs are there to hold main springs in place at, or near full droop (if needed). Thats their only purpose really since they have virtually no spring rate. Otoh, 'tender' springs look similar, but they are available in different sprin...

Fwiw in cool/cold weather it should idle around 2-2.5k rpm on cold start, so thats good. Top one is for egr and bottom one is for charcoal canister/evap.

Remove the cables. Use 3-in-1, wd40, etc, and work it between the metal wire and plastic that covers until plastic slides easy on the wire. When installin make sure the plastic wire covers are clipped in at the right points in relation to the flapper doors and hvac control levers on center console (...

Imo, custom is always best. Its because the setup can be tailored for the car's intended use. Shockworks even claims model specific road tuning, and has ...
