Re: Tips for first rebuild of bluetop.
The only 4A 'build' I've done was nothing more than having a bluetop crank turned 010/010(or .25/.25). Left the bores untouched since ther was no wear ridge. Also took a chance with the oe rods, as the bearings were barely showing copper. Put it back together, new gasket.... ran flawless and lasted ...

Re: facebook "killing forums" ?
figured I just throw the topic out there, as I've seen the same comment made on quite a few forums - too dam often So there has to be something to it ? For instance, in a recent thread I commented on the lack of folks posting their turbo 4AG builds here. Response was that there are actually "ab...

Re: Tips for first rebuild of bluetop.
how much is the bluetop 'rebuild' gonna cost ? ....probably more than a gze swap (if u can still find one)? bluetop will still be slow in a full weight daily.... and what about exhaust noise ? best dollar gain is a gze or mild boost via an entry level turbo, on any healthy hi mile stock bluetop imo....

Naturally traffic will die down as 4AGs become dinosaurs, but the decline has been too sharp imo Good to hear that lotsa folks still boosting 4AGs and posting on facebook. ALOT of 4AGTEs on the old forums (oz & nz too) Its surprising how quick some AE86s gone with 4AGTEs Tukumi? stock bigport/gz...

yeah, why is facebook killing forums ? I'm not on FB, just wondering where/why the action went. Seems like the forums been a goldmine of info forever (although a lot of the valuable info is lost every now and then) I'm assuming more traffic, but Is the info on FB better organized or something..... o...

Re: issues with hatch release cable
that's it. When you start to pull the lever, you'll see there is play (distance) between the ball at the end of the cable, and the area where the lever metal comtacts it. That is where I pinch a small piece of sheel metal around the cable end, using a needle nose pliers. Ghetto, but it works 4 me

on some of there old rollas, to get more "pull" on the cable...... at the handle end, I simply bent a small piece of sheet metal around the cable, between the ball and the handle lever metal. Problem solved - lol

We at Twam-Tuning have built a number of 4age, 4agze and 7afe/age Turbo's, and do not cost a fortune. And we get between 275bhp to 310bhp
post of those builds if you can. Sounds intersting

Re: 7A-G(T)E build questions
I know of a street ca18 done over 500hp using Tomei 260 hydraulics (and stock intake mani). He said he 'felt' no need to wring out the motor past 8000 rpm, seeing as it was a street ride With smaller '300hp' turbos, those 1.8s (with 260 Tomei, HKS 264s etc) make excellent midrange torque would "...

I guess its video time because the Miata gets pulled by the 86 everytime, no matter who's driving what. Having never driven an escort i won't speak to how those perform. Lol And now with the factory single throttle intake and air cleaner, I can hear the exhaust !! Never realised how noisy those ITB's were until today... the car is actually a lot more pleasant to drive without them. Ditto. My thinking for years. Dunno how folks tolerate such awful noise in a street c...

rebuild with a little bump in compression.... the 86 blows the doors off the Miata, IN A STRAIGHT LINE On scort forums, you can still find a handful of stock escort GTs gone 15.7 to 15.5 (for the few that bothered to explore). Every now and then, threads would pop up on the old club4ag forum about ...

Re: AE86 Good Drivers Car?
The Miata... known as "the answer", pffft not in my book, the engine sucks("A", and "B"), and there isn't nearly the challenge. The chassis is superb, and the handling goes from very fun to WOW... but the engine is a P.O.S. I've owned both a scort GT 1.8(same as miata ...

R-E-A-L-I-S-T-I-C is my point. Didn't you just mention being realistic ?? If torque "does not matter", as u claim, then displacement doesn't matter, neither does vehicle weight. Nonsense! Who cares about any 20k rpm 1.0 L, a 19 speed gearbox.... or any unobtainable crap. THAT is what "...

I am not saying 3800 swaps shouldn't be popular. Just saying that your expectations are a little unrealistic. As for the other stuff. Just because you don't understand the math and physics behind the theory doesn't mean you should attack unrealistic expectations? You mean like a 1.0 L 7000 pound du...

Re: 4A-GTE -- for fuel efficiency?
Dude, I told u where to look for 3800 mpg..... but of course u would know more than they do..... and everyone else This is where the turbo theory comes into play. A 1.6 liter turbo can make 3 liter power with 2 liter MPG. You will only see 3 L performance in boost. You will NOT see 2 L mpg while in ...

sorting thru GM tuner forums you'd be amazed at what actual mileage they wring outta those motors. I'm not only talking about the normally aspirated L36, but the supercharged L67 as well. Actual mpg..... not some rating agency Quick example; 37mpg auto tranny bone stock http://www.gmtuners.com/85Fie...

Re: 4A-GTE -- for fuel efficiency?
4AGTE gotta run rich in boost, so u will drink fuel. I'd rather pursue a bigger displacement motor that produces strong torque in the rpm range most used. Perhaps a lightwt sr20DE, or 7A on megasquirt etc The formula works. When u considersome buick 3800 V6s reportedly approach 40mpg in 3500 pound w...

gts and sr5 has the slave (and hard line obviously) on opposite sides of the bellhousing, so that may be another oem option... depending on how you route your exhaust ?

The only thing wrong with your examples is that you are using torque to try to explain power curve. No, I use tq to show its unquestionable superior accelerration capabilities. You say tq is irrelevant. When viewing a dyno, the torque curve is all I look at A 420hp cummings diesel with its near 700...

Re: What's good about the 7age?
Torque is irrelevant to determining acceleration so it really doesn't matter how much torque a motor makes. if that were true, 7000 pound duallys would need nothing more that a 1.0L in its glovebox..... as well as every other vehicle No engine swap would exist, ever. You need more torque to move (a...
