Re: 7age? Questions

The question was actually a plug for your flywheel. Can you offer an option for a set of bolts with the proper shoulder and thread length? Since the crank isn't drilled already, maybe have one, space permitting, bolt drilled offset to lock in orientation to 1 and 4 TDC, like the SPG pattern used in...

Re: 7age? Questions

On that pic Yoshi, how much more strength is gained by the extra six mounting screws? As far as the flywheel it's self goes it won't do much for strength. Perhaps it will give a little more stability and resistance to harmonic deformation but probably not much. As far as strength from breaking bolt...

3.6 KG 212mm flywheel. This is the sample. The rest should be here in about 2 months.

Re: 7age? Questions

7500 is considered quite save though I wouldn't go over that with the stock rods. But again I wouldn't waste my time with stock rods. With upgraded rods a number of people push over 8000 without issue and if you are going to do that you need to start upgrading other stuff as well.

Good to hear ae86714 and glad you got it resolved easily. I actually just ordered another one of these kits for a customer of mine and it only had the transverse bearing in it as well. I don't sell enough of these to stock them so I usually just drop ship from my distributors. Seems as though they m...

Re: 7age? Questions

I have been thinking about the 7age for a long while now too. I have a blacktop in my current setup. Is it really worth the amount of $$ to build a mild 7age for the amount of torque gained? It's kind of a hard question and really depends on where you are at currently. If your motor needs to rebuil...

Re: 7age? Questions

There is a range of ways to do a 7AFE. You could slap a 4A head on a 7A block and drive off but it would be a very disappointing motor. It would probably get outrun by stock 4AGEs. The key to a 7A bulid is doing everything as right and as well as you can. This has all been covered pretty extensively...

Re: Gauging interest in a sequential spark COP control modul

It's hard to give an exact date as every step has taken a lot longer than we expected. Right now we have a finalized, tested and proven design. We have found a case that I am 90% sure is the one we will be using. The engineer is now modifying the PCB design to work with the size of the case. So we a...

Re: AFM 4AGE & oxygen sensor

Glad you found at least part of the issue but I would go through the system and make sure everything else is good. I wouldn't expect those grounds to cut power to the rest of the car which makes me think you may have other grounds missing or with poor connections. Make sure you have good primary gro...

Well know I know that the st pistons can be used, not recommended to use them though. To make any torque I'd have to do either a 7a w/ proper machine work or turbo the biotch.....w/ proper work.

You can have all the torque you could ever want. Just need different gear ratios.

Re: Silver Top pistons w/ 16v head? Any info?

Well theoretically the 20v pistons shouldn't have any significant impact on longevity as long as you don't break a timing belt or get detonation. With that said the best thing you could do for longevity is start with an oversized piston and brand new fresh bores. Torque means nothing until you apply...

Re: Silver Top pistons w/ 16v head? Any info?

People have done 20v pistons in 16v heads. They will brag about how well it worked with the only significant evidence being that they haven't blown the motor or had directly related mechanical failure. It's definitely not ideal. The piston topography is wrong. Valve reliefs are in the wrong place. W...

If you went aftermarket engine management with something like a crank trigger wheel you wouldn't need the dizzy at all. In which case you could remove it and use a plug like Billy_Andrea's. If you are using the stock ECU then you will need the stock dizzy. Or some other setup that perfectly emulated...

I've read around about this but never seen a finished product. I think increasing the rod ratio will help the 4ag reach higher rpm safer and with the right cams more power. Re: Keeping 1600 with a 7afe block

Building this engine would have better power with the stock cams. Upper mid to high RPM will see the best benefit. I would like to see someone complete this build as well. This is pretty common with real 4A race motors. I could get someone all the components they need to do this build but it wouldn...

I want to do a mild build on my second gen 16V 4AG and see which cam was recommended by Matrix Garage. Is there a valve train setup recommended that would best compliment those cams? Re: AFM 4AGE & oxygen sensor

OX is the signal wire coming from the sensor to the ECU. It is the 0-1v signal that tells the ECU the AFRs. HT is the heater curcuit. +b should actually be the hot side of the circuit and HT should be ground that the ECU switches on and off to control the temp of the sensor. None of this should have...
