Hello I'm a newb but I did complete an engine swap in my GTS 1 week ago took me about a month to do it but everything's running fine have a question I found a 87 MR2 for sale without an engine well actually with a blown engine it looks like there's almost no room to work. Will I getting in over my head. It has a couple little things wrong with that of course switches, door hinges, etc.but for $500 and it's got a decent body interior should I buy it thank you for any insight. Just really worried about parts and how easy it'll be to get an engine in an MR2 looks like their tight.a I don't recall ever having seen one in any junk yard. Again thanks for any insight, and everybody for the advice I got on swapping the engine in my GTS

It all depends on how much time you are willing to spend. Essentially it would be very similar since it is the same engine just, like you said, less room to work with. You see them every once in a while at junk yards too, more often than an AE86 for sure. There is one with a complete engine in Wilmington, CA right now. If you can't fix it, just sell it for the same price lol.

MR2s are easy to work on. The 4AGE was designed to be in the car, so there's plenty of space around the engine to do maintenance. I feel like there's less room to wrench under the hood of my FX16.

I was able to pull a 4AGE out of an MR2 all by my lonesome in about 4 hours. It seems intimidating at first, but once you get going, it becomes a pretty easy task.

If you have hands from a small child, yes it's easy to work on an MR2...
