Hey guys. Just to let you know I am alive and kicking. Started ordering parts, some are already here, investing in tools, money is being burnt fast.
I have been looking into part coatings and found this company called camcoat and already exchanged some emails with them. I bought a compressor and spray gun anyway so I am looking into the possibility of ordering some of their stuff.
I am mainly interested into their exhaust manifold coatings and thermal barrier coatings for piston crowns and combustion chambers and valve faces. When bought in retail packaging and diy applied the stuff isnt too expensive. I would use the old pistons as learning material
Questions:
What do you think, should I even bother with this considering that I am doing pretty much a stock rebuild?
I thought that since I am upping the compression and am using taiwan pistons maybe the thermal barrier thing would help against detonation, carbon buildup etc. Make a durable stock engine even more durable?
Should I bother with the exhaust manifold? as far as I noticed it isnt cracked but its all brownish with rust, what should I do with it? sandblast it and leave it?
They also have stuff for piston skirts. Even more useless for me?
