Weird Radiator Problem

Hello, me again with new problem.

We swapped 4AGE 20V to ae86.
And I have Mishimoto fan and radiator kit for ae86.

We mount a adaptor and fan temp sensor to upper radiator hose.

When we start the engine, Temp is good but problem is my fans are almost always working! When stopped the car they are running.

I used hyundai 87degree temp.

So Is my problem position of sensor or sensor itself? What do you think?

I searched lots of photos, 4age 20v fan sensors placement never like mine, guys where did you attached it?

Fans should be controlled by an output from the ecu so the logical first place to look would be the ecu parameter that controls the fans, it is a simple switch control that takes its signal from the water temperature sensor and then tells the fans to switch on or off depending on the temperature setting in the ecu.

you need to check the temp switch to see if it is normally closed or normally open. this determines what your relay setup will be. also a better place for the thermo switch is between the thermostat and the radiator. I used an ae82/ae92 oem fan switch on mine. it is built into the thermo housing before the thermostat. It is a normally closed switch. if yours is normally closed i can share my schematics for wiring when i get my pics moved from photobucket. or send me your email and ill send it to you. if it is normally open then i can draw up a quick schematic for you. your ecu does have a controlled fan switch but it isnt necessary to control the fans to keep your engine cool. your fan set up is identical to mine. 2 rad fans and a thermo switch with a mechanical control.

btw I'm using standalone ECU and SQ Relocation Kit.

The fan switch should be on the lower hose so that when the coolant leaving the radiator (at the bottom) is too hot the fan turns on.

I went to service today and recognized my heater is not working. We took it off heater hose. water didnt come up(when car is running). They told me water pump is not power enough for this radiator setup. But lots of people use this radiator.

Maybe my water pump doesnt work properly or my heater radiator blocked. I dont know.. :(

Possibly nothing more serious than an air lock in the cooling system. Make sure that the radiator is filled with the heater on 'hot'. Pour some coolant in and then run the engine on idle when filling to the top.

Recommend you look at this method. You will already have a temperature sensor installed
at the back of the head for the ECU. So all you need is one auxiliary output on your ECU
that can be programmed to switch a relay and turn the fans on when the engine reaches
the temperature you have set in the ECU.

I run my electric radiator fan using the ECU for control, and it works great :)

I didn't know it was possible to change the fan-on temp setting in the stock ECU, thought it was hard wired. How do you set it?

OP has an aftermarket ECU and these last couple of posts relate to using an
aftermarket ECU to control the fans. You are correct in saying that the OEM ECU
does not have this capability.
