I have a built 7A motor. Need some advice

Postby Ita Racer » Sat Nov 11, 2023 1:59 pm

I have built a 7A motor with the MRP crank gear for the 7A. This changes the TDC by about 10 degrees. My problem is I can not advance the motor to 10 degrees because I run out of rotation on the distributer. It is full turn LH. I want to rotate more but can not. Any ideas. Any one had this problem.

Is this a 7AFE, or a 7AGE? Makes a difference. If you're building the 7AGE you need the reclocked crank sprocket. If it's a 7AFE you may have the reclocked sprocket.

Maybe you have the crank sprocket on backwards?

Really need more infoe.

You could try pulling the distributor and retarding (?) it one tooth. That should put you at
the other end of the adjustment and allow you to dial in more advance. Can't say if that will
sort the problem, but I remember doing it on a 4AGE when I had inserted the distributor one
tooth off the correct marks.

Read the post again. The crank sprocket won't change TDC, DUH, johndee is correct, try restabbing the distributor.

If the distributor has a pin holding the gear on, remove the pin and rotate the gear 180° on the distributor shaft
Re-fit distributor as normal.
Use a new roll pin to secure the gear.
