Well my names Tony, im from the 805. Santa Paula to be exact. This thread is pretty much to keep track of how my cars changed over time. For the first few posts im going to just copy and paste my old posts from the old forum, Since I already had a small thread there. Ive been working on this since December of 09. Anybody has any comments or suggestions please post up. Id love to hear feedback.

Ok so I got my Corolla I believe it was on Dec 6th, 09. It's a 1986 Toyota Corolla GT-S Non-LSD.

I am the official 2rd owner. And 1st owner under 75 yrs old. Some old lady in Morro Bay owned this car, she ended up passing away and gave the car to her sister. Her sister is now in her early 90s i believe and she is the one who sold me the car. I got this car for 2500. 232k miles on the clock. Tranny was smooth, clutch and brakes both needed a bleed. And the engine needed a small tune up.

Heres some pics of Day 1

6 days later SoCal got a HUGE storm and I slid into a newer Corolla and got tboned in the middle of a canyon. You guys probly know the story there was a thread on it....

Image
Image
Image
Image

I had a "hookup" job done by a coworker of my buddies who works at the Chevy dealership in the Bodyshop department for insurance claims. So he's dealt with totalled cars before and I had full confidence in him...

This is pretty much the end result...
Image

I received the car and it was making squeaky noises..and had a rotten carpet smell. Found out the rocker had missing welds and was leaking :(

So I called the guy out on his Shabby welds and he told me to **** off... I get what I payed for I guess. Had to go elsewhere to get it done right.

AE92 skirts/Celica Supras? Possibly

Plans for the near future after my tax return..
Coilovers
LSD
JBLOOD replica Front Bumper
Gloss Green or Lime Green Paintjob

We started Wetsanding the car today. After putting Megan Coils.

Since I had a nice fat deposit down for a spare engine. The guy agreed to let me pick at it for a couple parts. So I nabbed theTRD headers and the new cat off of him. Thank you superdougy.

7/21/10

4A-GE Bluetop
Largeport
265,000 mi.
Image

Adjustable Cam Gears
TRD Plugs and Wires
HKS Intake
Illegal Garage Clutch
TRD Headers
(free T50 Tranny w/ Copper Cusco Shifter Bushing)

Has a blown headgasket.

Im gonna clean it up and organize everything. Dump the Oil, and Coolant in the block And degrease the **** out of the outside. Once I get it cleaned up, ill start tearing it up just so I get less dirty while doing so. I already put the Headers on my current motor, I still needa put the Intake and Wireset on my current motor and rock em till I get the motor built. When I took off the clutch I found out it was pretty much toast. Ill have to get a new one.
Image

8/6/10
Eight Six Day! Today seemed like a good day to open up the engine after I got everything organized..

Image
Image

Need to buy Rod Bearings, Main Bearings, Piston Rings, Seal Kit, Water Pump, Oil Pump, Timing Belt, and a Thinner Headgasket. Whos got 953 bucks i can borrow?

8/21/10
Slid at JUSTDRIFT event today..
Toasted my clutch on the last run of the day for the **** of it hehe

9/4/10
So I took the engine to the machine shop and got word from them a few days later that my #4 cylinder was out of round and had to be bored to be evened out. This was caused by the Blown Headgasket. So bigger pistons it is.

I am getting the following done:
Hot Tanking the: Head, Block, Crank, Pistons, Connecting Rods, Intake Manifold, Oil Pan, Tranny Mounts, Motor Mounts, Alternator Bracket, and my Valve Covers
Checking all oil Clearances
A 3 Angle Valve Job
Shaved Head
Decked Block
Valve Seals
Valve Adjustment
Cylinders will be Honed
They will also be bored out .020" over
Brand new Oversized Pistons and Rings will be Pressed In

9/23/10
Master Gasket Kit
Image

10/25/10
In other news, my engines done. Total cost out the door with the crank set in with new bearings is gonna be $550.
I have no money so, well see when i retrieve it. I also acquired a Vertex rear bumper and Brembo Drilled and slotted rotors
Image
Image

11/20/10
Finally paid off my Engine. Turned out to be 450 even.
While I was installing the final piston I bent one of the oil expander rail rings. Will have to get a new set
Image

11/21/10
Day 2 in re assembling this puppy.
Finished up the bottom end compeltely.
Installed Oil Pickup, Baffle Plate, Oil Pan, AC, PS, WP, Alt, Tensioner, Fans, Crank Pulley, Thermostat, and the Water Outlet and Inlet Housings.
Im still waiting on my Head Bolts to put on the head. Hopefully by tuesday!
Image

And what remains... Intake Plastics, Intake Mani, valve Covers, AC and PS lines, and Oil cooler w/ lines.
Image

Well ive come a long way these past 6 months, hopefully it gives you guys something to look at. Im hoping to paint the engine tommorow, align my car, andtorque down the head tuesday. If all goes well im throwing it in this weekend.

11/25/2010
Today i finished assembling the engine, and taking out the Old one. I started at 9pm Wednesday, and went home at 6am Thursday. Went to go sleep. Woke up at 1pm. And finished it off around 530pm. Tommorow night were gonna throw it in.

Image

12/18/10
Well i broke in the engine. Gonna do the oil change tommorow, and go to the track sunday! Hooray for abusing brand new engines!
In other news I got a front bumper to finish off my kit.

Test fitment,Fitments pretty legit. I also relocated my license plate to the right. Lets go to the track!!!
Image
Image

3/19/11
DMAX roof wing. And i lowered it just a tad..
Image
Image
Image

It took me almost 2 months, but it was well worth it, since I got em for CHEEEEEEEEAP. Hooray for working at a Toyota Stealership!
Image
Image

Heres an update thats actually worth clicking my thread for haha
I finally gathered all my parts for my Manual Rack conversion.

TE72 Manual Rack, Ujoint, and Intermediate Shaft.
I hooked it up with some TechnoToyTuning Outer Tie Rods and Beefy Knuckles. I also bought a BattleVersion rack spacer, but I was antsy to put the rack in, I decided to throw it on later when I have time to pick it up from Alex.

Since the PS Pump, Idler, and AC compressor run on the same belt, everyone deletes the AC at the same time as PS. But **** that I love my AC, so i junkyard hopped around and found an MR2 AC bracket(MR2s never came PS) and it bolts right up to my block, which lets me run an MR2 AC belt, which enables me to keep my AC and delete PS.

Old crap
Image

Fitting the new rack in
Image
Image
Image
Image

Megan Coils, DGARAGE RCAs, T3 Knuckles, T3 Tie Rods, SS Brake Lines
All i need are Tension Rods and a Sway bar and my front suspension would be complete.

Angle without centering the rack, or Doing my alignment
Image
Image

After alignment and 1/4 Turn before FULL LOCK. I cant go to full lock at the moment because my tires rub on the Frame Rails.
Image

These are all set with the knuckles on the stock setting, no rack spacers, -1.5 Camber, 2.25 Caster, 0 Toe.

Car show at DCH Toyota of Oxnard (previous Employer)
Image
Image

6/10/11
Bought JIC Tension ROds
PIC LOST

And Vertex Skirts to complete the kit
Image

11/11/11
So after the track I decided that I no longer wanted a POS looking track slut. So i decided to try and clean her up...My inspiration..
Image
Image

STEP 1:
JDM Kouki Sprinter Trueno Bumper.... CHECK!
JDM Kouki Sprinter Trueno Turn Signals.... CHECK!
Image
Image

Step 2:
JDM Zenki Lip.... CHECK!
Image

Step 3:
jBLood Skirts.... CHECK!
Image

Just need a JDM Kouki Rear Bumper with jBLood rear valences, and it will be ready for paint. After paint im looking at getting those Work Equip 03's, Only $1600 for just the wheels hahaha.

Step 4:
JDM Bumper and jBLood Valences... CHECK!
Image
Image

OFF TO PAINT IT WENT!

And about around 3/26/11 I received this.. Love that molded TRD Wing
Image
Image

Next up and exhaust and a CF hood. Then maybe some Equip 03's... hey one can dream!

4/14/12
So my old exhaust fell off at some railroad tracks
Image

And i come back with THIS
ZOMG SUPER EXPENSIVE RARE 5ZIGEN Border3 Exhaust (You guys gotta hear how sexy it sounds
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Here you can see The paint color in the night along with the TRD Wing and DMAX Wing... damn im so glad i went to blue.
Image

4/16/12
Finally put on my NST Spacer

Image
Image
Image

4/25/12

Image
Image

4/26/12
And got myself a SEIBON CF Hood for the instagram likes haha
Image

4/30/12
Footage of the track event i went to... if anyone has any pointers for me im all ears.. I tend to understeer alot (FIXED)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vSQiENeWWA

I was talking to a buddy of mine, not sure his forum name, but we went over my alignement specs and before i head back out im gonna switch things up a bit.

Current:
Camber: -1.5
Caster: +3.25
Toe: 0

Adjusting to:
Camber -3.25
Caster +2.75
Toe: 0

5/8/12
AW11 FANS... now removed though
Image
Image

5/29/12
BENT FRAME, SHOCK TOWER TOUCHING FIREWALL, CORE SUPPORT FUCKED...
Ill leave these videos here

7/12/12
Its back... woohoo
After a Frame Pull, new Passenger fender, new Corner Light, New Eyelid, and the complete front end repainted...
I think im gonna need a new JDM Bumper...
Image

8/11/12
New wheels and new Painted bumper.
I did run 15x9 +15 all around, but the front wouldn't fit, and with 15 mill spacers they would stick out TOO much. So I went down to 15x8 0 offset for the front and 15x9 +15(w/ 20mm Spacer) in the rear. Running 195/50/15 on both the 8 wides and 9 wides. I gotta lower the rear a lil more, the stretched tire makes the car look super high in the rear.
Image
Image
Image

Unfortunately in the accident my cars differential Broke, so now it peg legs. In the process of Buying a TRD 2 way.

Also go ahead and like us on facebook were currently working on paperwork to get some local track events up at the old DriftDay spot in Camarillo,CA.

10/5/12
Autopower cage bought, and welded it in instead of bolted
Image
Image

10/11/12
New plates for my car haha
Image

11/8/12
Stripped my axle after installing my TRD 2 way.
Turns out even though my car is a kouki, it reads as a late ZENKI vin. so my rear end is a zenki. Well a KOUKI TRD diff doesnt like Zenki axles.. oopsie
Image

12/12/12
Got tired of my tranny whine sounding like a supercharger so i decided to do something about it
Image

Ready to rock for the drift event...
Image

Well... i hit a K-RAIL with my RF Wheel and fucked the caster and a coil over.. time to replace parts
Image
Image

4/29/13

This is the event where i finally got to sit down with Taka and talk about going 1uz. I was getting limited by my Bluetop. You can see the GTS2k out doing me :(
Taka time and time again has told me to turbo the 4age, and well after much thought, i scrapped my idea of going 1uz and finally putting my big girl panties on and turboing the bluetop motor that has given me nothing but joy for 3 years!

2/13/14
One last clutch job before i Pull this puppy and turbo it.... just one more bluetop event for the shits and giggles. Timed myself and it took 45 minutes :)
Image

2/19/14
Tried fooling people into thinking i was going LS1.... haha never!
Image

2/25/14
T28 Turbo off of an R32 RB26 (had to go T25 off an SR20, T28 wasnt gonna work)
Image

2/28/14
CXRacing Intercooler and Piping is in as well as my Manifold
Image

3/5/14
After some test fitting the manifold with turbo in the bay, i had to make clearance on my booster ( you can see in the back) Looks like im going booster hunting at the Junkyard. Decided to go ahead and pull the motor and build off the car so i can paint my engine bay.
Image

3/13/14
Progress is good..
Turbo lines Plumbed,
Oil Pan Tapped,
Coolant Lines plumbed,
Sensors for oil Temp and Oil Pressure T'd into my block,
Turbo Manifold Mounted
Turbo Mounted
Valve Covers Painted

Waiting for my Illegal Garage 212mm clutch and ECU
Image
Image
Image
Image

3/18/14
Stripped and Stitch welded my interior... Full Track car, no turning back
Image
Image

3/23/14
Engine bay painted
Image
Image
Image
Image

3/20/14
Bought an AEM ECU and decided against it so it is now sold..
Image

Late March 2014...
Bought a Megasquirt 2.2 off a forum member with him advertising that it was MSPNP... well when i received it, it definitely was not a MSPNP. So now im out 600 bucks, shady members piss me off man. If anyone wants to buy a MS2.2 with Distributorless setup, offer me something worthwhile and you can take it. I need money to finish my build and im in a tough spot right now.

As of 4/13/14
I am still waiting on Max to get my Illegal Garage Clutch shipped, trying to sell my MS2.2 and im saving for a MSPNP2 to finally finish. Not much real progress here man.

@lisaFRANK the solution was to replace the stock booster with the 95-99 Tercel/Paseo booster and Master Cylinder. Its a straight forward swap you just have to twist the lines a bit to make them work. As far as everything else... so far so good. I will know for sure when i drop it in. If you order the ebay CX manifold i hear its the Gen. 1 with clearance issues, but if you order the manifold of their website it is the Gen. 2 which fixes these issues.

Still waiting on Max Misawa for my clutch :(

Got tired of waiting and decided to just drop in the motor with no trans in.

Image

And my Megasquirt came in as well!!

Just need: IC Piping, 90* fitting for coolant line(hits master cylinder), Coolant drain petcock, Clutch, Downpipe and a Tune. After i tune it i will get back to working on the interior.

Clutch finally came in, and the AW11 212mm clutch fits by a nuthair inside the T50. Once the tranny was mounted onto the engine and chassis, it moved around my engine and set itself into place. Which in turn caused more fitment issues with this manifold.. I think im gonna scrap this manifold and just run the "legit" CX Racing one instead of the ebay one. Rumors are that it fixes all clearance issues, i will call to confirm tommorow.

GReat build and rebuild. How in the hell did you pull the frame when the shock tower was hitting the firewall? Legit frame puller or Forklift and chain?

@hinga legit frame puller. I think it was close to 300 per pull

In other news, it is TRUE that if you order direct from CXRacing, you will get Gen 2 manifold, which gets rid of ALL clearance issues. (Claimed over the phone) So i went ahead and re-ordered it and got both my Inlet/Outlet pipes for the Turbo. Once i get my manifold and in/out pipes, i will be able to bolt up my IC piping, and load the base map and crank it over.

I ate a curb a few years ago that pushed my frame rail up. Used a forklift, chain, and a large pole to get her straight. Not many places over here that have frame machines. Car looks good as new. I've seen too many 86's go to the scrap heap that only needed a little pull here n there. Damned shame

Got my manifold and In/Out pipes for my turbo. It is TRUE and infact the CX Racing manifold is different from the ebay one. It creates just BARELY enough clearance to run the Paseo/Tercel Booster and Master. But hey clearance is clearance. Unfortunately the way i was going to route my Coolant lines is still impossible even after a new manifold. So I need to adress that. After transferring everything over to the new manifold i threw on the IC piping, My Oil Cooler, and Hood Latch. My front end feels a little cluttered now.

To finish: Find a laptop to hookup my Megasquirt to and Load a Base Map, 90* -6AN fitting to run my coolant hoses, Fill with Oil, Fill with Coolant. Boom goes the dynamite.

After 2 weeks of trying to troubleshoot my MSPNP i got in touch with Russ at DIYAutoTune and he got my car to start in about 2 days! The man is legit and very kind! So glad DIYAT has a guy like him.

Current issues:
Will not stay idling (Possibly due to my IAC Blockoff plate??)
Turbo is blown (Spits oil out)
Coolant leak from Bypass pipe above Waterpump
Still need someone to make my downpipe
Need a Tune

Thanks! Ya a disco potato (gt28-rs) would be killer, but just a T28 S15 turbo would be way better then the T25 I have my my AE86 right now. Ps nice chatting with ya!

I found out, the RB26 is kinda different a lil smaller then a T28 S15. But thanks again, and nice talking to ya, your car is sick!

Not sure if i had posted this before, but i blew the T25 because i used silicone instead of a gasket on the turbo oil dump which clogged the dump and blew the oil right through my seals.

Well i had to tear it down and re ring the shaft, and put in new journals in there. Overall it took an afternoon and alot of patience, but the turbo is good as new and has no shaft play :)

marley, i followed this thread on zilvia:

http://zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=188356

You essentially need:
13mm Wrench
12mm Wrench
Small Picks
SMall Screwdriver
T15 TORX
GOOD snap ring pliers, like MATCO or SNAPON
And mmm thats it, probly some PB Blaster for overnight soaking.

And the kit i bought from GPOPSHOP came with instructions as well.

PHX: thank you very much :)

If youre talking about the EMS, the 4th plug isnt used for the ae86 4AGZE, if you are gonna use it on your SR20, you need to buy the patch harness and wire it to whatever pins you need to use.

Ive been struggling with getting an LC1 Innovate Wideband system to work, and it ended up being a bad o2 sensor. Well I decided to just scrap it and give it back to my friend and go a different route. Came up on an MTX-L and it was so much easier to work with and install. Definitely a nice gauge. Also, decided to finish up wiring my other gauges since my dash is pretty much only a Tach and Gas Gauge from now on.

The cockpit:

Oil Pressure, Water Temp up top
Boost, AFR, and Oil Temp on bottom.

Startup sweep:

To do list:
Wiper arms
Tape up, Ziptie, and Clean up my engine bay wiring.
Rewire my JDM Bumper Lights
Install Hood, Fenders, Bumper
Wire new Master Cylinder Brake Sensor
Adjust Brake Switch for Tercel Booster
Find 2 new Bellhousing Bolts
Get a real BOV, not leaky ebay pos
Tune the megasquirt
Slide.

After that comes interior.. which is the least of my worries :D

And Intercooler..

I have a small dilemma, I dont want to block my intercooler, but I HATE giving the cops that stupid lil excuse to pull me over, and besides i Like rocking custom plates. Anyone have any other mounting ideas for my license plate? When I go to the track I remove my front bumper, so i may just leave the plate on for city driving as I dont like to rice around and the intercooler will be ok even with a little blockage. One day I will cut my grille bracket to raise the intercooler though, i hate how it sits crooked.
