Coupe side glass install questions

Postby TripleF » Wed Feb 08, 2017 7:23 pm

I am re-installing the side glass in a 1986 SR5 coupe. I have the small clips for the window trim. There appears to be three types: green(6), yellow(6) and black(10). I am assuming 3 green, 3 yellow and 5 blacks per side. Does anyone know which ones go where? Also, the black sealant for the window, what is it called?

Found this on another site, sort of lines up except it states the clips are black, yellow and grey. Maybe coupe vs. hatch???

dit let me re-read what you are asking

Ok, from memory you have black clips, yellow and large grey ones.

The yellow run all along the bottom

The black run on the side pillar and 2x black at the top

The large grey run down the sloping side.

I found you put the black trims on in the following order:
Put the small vertical pillar strip on first, then fit the corner bits on
Put the long bottom bit on next (i slide most of it onto the clips to avoid breaking them).
Put the top bit on next and slide into the corners.

I hope that answers your question.

The above with grey clips is for a hatch.
For a coupe the 3 yellow clips go along the bottom, the 3 green clips are on the B pillar and the 5 black clips go up the C pillar and on top of the glass.
I only looked into this last week myself using the EPC with part numbers of the coloured clips to see what clip goes where.
