Replacing drain cock on block

Hello,

Has anyone replaced the drain cock on the block of the 4age? The water drain valve next to the oil pressure sender on the driver side.

If you have what did you use? I'm looking for a bolt/screw thing that can handle both the heat and pressure without leaking. I'm looking to create some room there for some oil cooler lines.

On one of my 4AGE motors I just used a standard pipe plug and gasket sealer. Should be able to get one at your local hardware store. If it is a real tight clearance requirement, you could get a pipe plug with a Allen Socket Head. Davew7

This is probably your best solution. Similarly I needed to change the block drain for oil cooler line clearance. I ended up cutting the stock one down and welding it shut.

Im not sure what thread/pitch the block drain is, but it wouldnt hurt to run an NPT tap through it to clean up the threads.

99% sure its a tapered 1/4" BSP (BSPT) plug that you need rather than a 1/4" NPT plug.
The 20Vs have just a plug without the drain cock: Toyota P/N 90345-52003

That same plug is also used in the AE101 4A-FE. If you can find a pick & pull with some 93-97 Corollas, you should be able to grab one. Might be a little work to get at, being behind the alternator.
