Hey everyone,
I noticed on some MR2 forums that people have successfully swapped (plug n’ play) louder RX300 horns. I know I can do hella etc but wanted a louder oem horn.
Any thoughts or suggestions.
Thanks everyone!

OEM Upgrade Horn for AE86?
Progress. Not perfection.
Re: OEM Upgrade Horn for AE86?
Not a bad idea. Could probably pull up part photos on rockauto/toyota parts dealers and compare the connectors. Or take your current horn to a junkyard to mix and match.
Worst case just solder/heat shrink the new connector onto your harness. I'd expect something like a tundra would have a substantially louder horn. Just have to match the polarity.
(Anything recent, honestly)

Pretty sure I used one of these...

It was one half of a two-tone set. The guy who bought the set only used one
and I grabbed the other one. Was a big upgrade in sound and tone compared
to the OEM squeaker Didn't need to upgrade the factory wiring or fit a relay
either which made it a straight forward install. Can't remember if I had to
change the terminations, but easy job anyway.

All the above.
Yours might only need some tuning.
clean its terminals, clean ground if it's 1-wire, clean its relay terminals & contacts, adjust it.
That adjustment screw on it, self tapping or threaded& locknut, will change it quite a bit until there's no sound at all at either end of its range.
Playing with & setting it for the best continuous sound probably isn't going to be close enough to the setting it needs to work well when cold.
good luck

Completely forgot. Back in the day I had a mk2 MR2. Got bumped in the front just hard enough to dent the horn. Sounded like the dying giraffe in the south park movie. I miss that horn. >_> (car, too. )
