20 Valve ST Help Again

Postby lopjos321 » Thu Apr 24, 2014 9:50 pm

I bought my first Aw11 and it came with a 20 Valve ST. I want to run it on just the ITB's alone. What I have is:
1. 6 Speed Black Top ECU
2. Black Top Engine Harness
3. MAP sensor
4. IAT sensor
5. Air Horns

Is there anything else I need to run this car on the ITB's?
Is there anyone who can talk me thru this instal because I have never done this before. Any help will be a great plus. Thank you

I haven't done this particular conversion, but it looks like you have
all the parts you need. You should get hold of the pinout diagrams
for both the BT and the ST, so you can figure out how to wire the
third (body harness) plug for the ECU. Here I am assuming that the
plugs are coded differently between the ST and BT.

Once you have that organised, check the clips and plugs on the BT
harness to see if they will work with the ST sensors and injectors.
Any that don't match wiill have to be cut and spliced. Check to see
that the harness wires are long enough to reach where they have to
go on the AW11.

Mount the MAP sensor on the chassis somewhere close to the rear
of the head and a bit higher. Make a tapping into one of the tubes
or hoses that connects directly to the common vacuum rail above
the ITB's, and connect to the MAP sensor with vacuum hose. Use an
in-line pulsation damper if you have one.

Any of the connections marked 3, 4 or 5 run into the common
vacuum rail. You can even drill and tap a small fitting directly into
the round part at the end if you don't want to tee into one of the
hoses that connect into the rail.

Make a small bracket and mount the IAT sensor close to the inlet
of one of the air horns, so that it senses the air being drawn into
the engine. Set the air horns to play La Cucaracha, and you are
good to go :D
