I got a Megan rear bar for next to nothin, it was dirty but complete. I didn't want to drill more holes in the poor car, so I came up with a way to mount the bar using existing threaded holes. Plus I didn't like the position of the regularly installed bar just out in space kinda near-ish the shocks. So I made some brackets to mount the bar to the existing threaded holes for the upper seat brackets. You will lose your back seats, and this is for hatches only, deal with it.
I used 4"x4" L shaped aluminum stock that is 3/8" thick, and cut into 3" sections. 4" is too big, I would use 3"x3" if I ever decide to redo it. But this way I have room to add two extra lower bars to make a triangle with the floor. I used all the hardware that came with the Megan bar. I measured mostly by eyeballing things, so I did have to ditch the jam nuts so I could screw the ends in far enough to fit. Next time use a 3" bracket.
