New York International Auto Show 4/20/2011 Photo Contribution by Flipside909 Jacob Javits Center, New York, NY, USA SCION FRS Concept Unveiling Our friend in Toyota's external PR network, Flipside909, shares his coverage of the New York International Auto Show that was held at the Jacob Javits Center in the middle of New York City. Particularly, this page will feature some great shots of his coverage of Scion's unveiling of the recent rendition of the FR-S Concept, which has been in various stages of development at Toyota since 2007. Ever getting closer to launch after many revisions and rethinking, the latest body concept was fabricated by Troy Sumitomo of FIVEAXIS design studio (fiveaxis.com). Features and specifications are rumored from various sources and nearly confirmed but not expressly by Scion as of yet and no launch date has been announced. However, we at Club4AG is very happy that Toyota has been continuously in development of such car, and is preparing to launch a spirited sports car of balance, fun, and economy once again, after the disappearance of MRS/MR2 and the likes of Supra, Celica, and the old sporting Corollas of the 70's~80's. There seems to be a whole list of web and live conversations on Scion vs. Toyota/Subaru branding of this product. However, I feel that it really doesn't matter which network they choose to sell. We have been asking Toyota to make a compact rear drive sports car within reasonable price constraints, and they've listened to that desires and voices. It's not every day that a car maker will tap into the voices of the smaller niche market individuals and setup a whole international team of product planners to develop it with so much care. They have answered to the call, and we are so close to having something here, so lets not spoil it by bickering about the badge. It's much more important to us, that we have this platform achieved, with a proven engine from Subaru's long standing track record of WRC racing, a slick gearbox with 6 speeds of close ratio fun, and all the reliability that went into Toyota, sourced from great suppliers like Aisin, Denso, Fuji Heavy, Yamaha, NGK, and many other parts that are all familiar to us for providing bulletproof guarantee of hours of fun. Day in and day out. It's our turn to act, by first saving our pennies, and then going out to the dealers to put some cash down, and make sure that this car makes sense for Product Planners and Finance managers at Toyota, and convince them that they have made the right decision. Happy Motoring, Moto Miwa, Webmaster at Club4AG
