Re: Steering rack moving
Thanks for the input guys. I ended up figuring out what the issue was! I jacked the car up and shook the wheels again. The driver side wheel would move left and right about 1/4" an inch. Upon close inspection, I found out that the steering knuckle had become loose on the ball joint. After tight...

Re: Steering rack moving
Installed Xcessive Manufacturing steering rack straps and bushings. They definitely stop the rack from moving. The straps are reinforced and the bushings were bigger and stronger than the previous energy ones. The straps are also shaped slightly different so they clamp down harder onto the crossmemb...

Re: Steering rack moving
Thanks for the response! I am actually thinking about picking up a set of those bushings you have listed in the picture. I think I will ask them to measure the width of the bushing first. I think the one I currently have is an energy suspension bushing. The one you have listed above is the bushing f...

Steering rack moving
Hey guys, Has anyone had issues with their manual racks moving horizontally even when the straps tightened? What did you do to fix it? When I am driving, I can feel my rack moving slightly. I can also see it when I have someone move the steering wheel while I visually inspect the rack. I have tried ...

WTB AE86 Headlight Retractor Relay
Hey guys,
I am looking for an AE86 headlight retractor relay. It is the relay that mounts next to the battery on the radiator support panel. If you have one send me a pm on here. I am willing to buy a couple if you have more than one.
Thanks
Vic

Re: Tie rods and battery questitons
1. It is a welded on bracket. There are spot welds that hold it to the engine bay. So you could find another one from another 80's toyota and weld it into your car. You would drill out the spot welds from the donar car and then weld it where the spot welds were. Just another option. 2. Not sure what...

WARNING! I know no one really looks on the forums anymore but I figured I'd post this anyways. DO NOT do business with these guys. They are scammers. Re: WTB Zenki Driver Side Fender AE86
Thanks for the help. I tried looking on that site and there was nothing for the AE86 front fenders.
If anyone has one let me know. I dont need a perfectly good fender. Just no rust and no major dents (car was hit).

Re: AE86 Temperature / Gas / Oil Gauge not working
Temp & Oil are just one wire signals. Temp comes from the upper waterneck single terminal sensor. Oil comes from the the oil sender by the exhaust manifold. Those two wires go through the main big black connector that sits on the top the firewall near the chassis identification stamp and vin pla...

W55 transmission conversion
Hey guys, I have a W55 transmission that I want to put on my BT 20v 4age. The car is an AE86. Looking side by side at a T50 and a W55, the W55 appears to be shorter. I wanted to run the SQ Engineering adapter plate but not sure what shifter I would need. I noticed that the W58 has various shifters d...

Re: rear tire skipping under hard braking
So last night I jacked up the front of my car and turned the front wheels by hand and one side had noticeable drag and this was caused by the brake piston not returning correctly. The OP might want to try the same test before doing all the other stuff stated above ! will do, thank you. CloudStrife ...

When you say right hand side, are you referring to the passenger side?
I am currently running the factory brake proportion valve. Is there one that bolts in nicely?

Re: rear tire skipping under hard braking
If you suspect a side to side brake imbalance always check the non-working side, the side that it veers away from. Just to make sure I got this correct in my head. If i car turns to the left under braking, then I need to check the passenger side? Yes, I can lock the brakes in straight line hard bra...

Re: rear tire skipping under hard braking
Straight line braking only causes the steering wheel to turn to the left slightly. No wheels lock under braking in a straight line. Front wheels are at -3.5 camber and rear is around 0. I will try messing with rear strut settings. If I remember correctly, they were set to pretty stiff already but no...

rear tire skipping under hard braking
Hey Guys, I am having a problem with my AE86 GTS at the track when I do some very hard braking. The inside rear wheel will skip across the pavement when I start braking before a turn. I have also noticed that when I brake in general (even during cruising) that my steering wheel slightly turns to the...
