Re: AC Idle Up Connection Plug

Hmmmm.... if you have no coolant running thru the auxiliary air valve to heat the wax capsule, the valve will stay wide open all the time. This normally will supply enough air to raise the idle to around 2200rpm. Don't know why the A/C idle up port acts the way it does ? However, you must have a dec...

Here is the internal circuit diagram for the AFM... https://i.imgur.com/uY3445X.png The basic function of the AFM is to tell the ECU how much air is entering the angine by monitoring how far the flap opens. When the flap opens it moves a slider over a carbon track creating a variable voltage input f...

Interesting :) The 6-speed ECU must be mapped to activate at slightly different
load/rpm points due to the different gearing. By some quirk of fate this happens
to match the needs of your conversion... well done and good to know !!!

Re: 4AGE 16v no injector pulse

The EFI Main Relay is the one you pull when you want to make sure the engine
won't run. It controls the power supply to the ECU. There should also be a 15A
EFI fuse in the underhood fusebox... check that one as well.

Just poke them with 12V. I use a couple of those little test wires with aligator clips on the end. Connect one pin to 12V and tap the wire connected to the other pin on the negative terminal. Re: 4AGE 16v no injector pulse

Should be fine then. I'm wondering why you don't get some fuel related action from your engine. Usually, even if the main injectors are not firing, the cold start injector supplies enough gas to get the car to fire up on closed throttle. Only runs for a couple of seconds and then dies as the cold st...

Extract the 10-pin plug from the ECU and test from the ground pins to a chassis
ground. Make sure the ring connector is bolted down to the intake manifold.

Re: 4AGE Blacktop 20V IACV

I feel that you are treating the symptoms rather than finding the cause of this problem. On a 20V ALL the idle air should be passing thru the ISCV. If the engine can idle at 2000 rpm with closed throttles, then either the ISCV is not closing or the throttles are not closing fully and there is excess...

Re: 4AGE Blacktop 20V IACV

Remove the filter from the fresh air side of the ISCV and block the end of the tube with your thumb. You should be able to regulate the idle speed by varying the amount of "blocking" you are applying with your thumb. Tptally blocked the engine should either stall or drop to a very low idle...

With the 10 pin ecu plug disconnected and all the injector plugs removed you should still get 12v to one side of the injectors through the resistor box right.... that is what feeds 12v to the injectors right? First up you don't want your throttle cable to be tight. Back the engine speed down to 1500 - 1600 rpm and it will stop doing that :)

Re: Gas coming out of fuel neck nozzle...

Yeah... I'm not familiar with exactly how the USDM venting works. My (Euro spec) car doesn't have a charcoal cannister. There is just a loop of vent tubing that rises up above the tank and then drops down with a little filter on the end. So basically vent to atmosphere for those markets that didn't ...

E21 and E2 are sensor grounds and the ground path is via the ECU. Yup... that will do it every time. If you can clean that out and the valve still opens
when dropped in boiling water, you likely couuld JB weld or epoxy glue a stub of tube
in there to get it working. Otherwise, find a replacement, check it works and you
are good to go :)

You can test the AAV by blocking the hole at about 5 o'clock in front of the throttle plate. https://i.imgur.com/KWQ4nBj.png As you most likely have an AFM engine you can't block it temporarily with your finger while the engine is running. Make sure that the hose for the MAP sensor is not split or leaking. Check that the water temperature sensor for the ECU is not broken ior unplugged. The ISCV modulates (changes position smoothly) the amount of idle air entering the engine by opening and closing as instructed by the ECU. I'm not sure about swapping flanges. You should be able to use your AE86 starter, and probably the starter from any 16V 4AGE or 4AFE including the FWD models. I used the AE92 reduction starter with a T50 and apparently, the starter from an AE93 (whatever that is?) will work as well. Try and get a st...
