The dimensions I sent Precision Shims in Australia were :-

OD 8.0mm
ID 5.1mm
HEIGHT 4.4mm
Recess Depth varies [it's a shim!], but around 2.4mm

Funny that this should happen to you. I'be been searching for an elusive oil leak from mine and finally found it to be the VVT solenoid housing. I don't know how you could measure the compression without the cams in - you need the intakes to open to get some air in there in the first case!
