Re: Dizzy relocation kit - runs backwards. Garage annex perh

Just to complete this, I ended up getting another dizzy and running it at the back of the head. i.e just running it for the pickups (the spark distribution continued to be done at the front using the garage annex kit). In this position it turns the correct way and the car ran much better. The car is...

Re: Dizzy relocation kit - runs backwards. Garage annex perh

Right, what I am trying to get at might be better explained by the following pics. In these pics you will see the kit I have, the insides of a 20V dizzy and the pickups (3 in total, 2 working on the inner collar and one on the 24 tooth collar). The inner collar has a grove in it that gets wider as i...

Re: Dizzy relocation kit - runs backwards. Garage annex perh

If you look on the 20v dizzy there are 2 pickups. The inner most one has like a scroll on it that I believe builds up a pulse and then there's a slight lip. I'm writing this from memory and without much knowledge of how this all works. Anyways , my dizzy runs backwards and I guess Toyota made the in...

Dizzy relocation kit - runs backwards. Garage annex perhaps

20v dizzy relocation - running backwards Lads, my BT 20v conversion uses a relocation kit that relocates the complete dizzy to the front. Hence it runs backwards. Now this has been pointed out to me by a number of folk and the fact it could account for my lower than expected up top performance. One ...

Re: Crankshaft keyway PUSHED

Happened to me. I have pics on the ae86irl site. Actually have a look at this YouTube vid I put up.

Type ae86 4age 20v problem in YouTube.

Another thing to note. The damaged crank gear I had was narrower to the one I got to replace it. So I reckon someone put the wrong one on at some point.

Re: Little bit valve noise 4AGE 20V BT

At the oil control valve you have 2 wires. Ground the red one at idle. I just used a pin in a block connector and a length of wire to the -ive bat terminal.

This will activate the vvt and the noise should go. The idle will become really really rough but the noise should go. That's if it is the vvt.

Re: Corolla/Corsa Electric Power Steering Column

I have this fitted to my ae86, using a quaife kick rack with it. I've a dial for adjusting the amount of assistance. I've done 2 track days and I turned the assistance to minimal, worked great. I'm in Ireland and as mentioned it's popular with the rally guys here. Actually most of them use it with a...

Re: GReddy Emanage Ultimate w/ MAP sensor + SR5-20VBT Harnes

I have a standard normally aspirated BT 20v. Most tell me that going standalone would make a big difference. (I've only got 105bhp at the wheels so I'm looking to do something)

Would this be a good substitute for standalone?

Re: BT 4age dyno run 133.5 bhp at the flywheel :-(

I checked the throttle opening and I do have full throttle on all 4 ITBs. I also wired in a vvt LED so I can keep an eye on that. The ECU is definitelt turning on VVT and off again at about 7000 rpm. I did notice that vvt is activated only when you go for it, i.e floor it. It can come on a lot lower...

Re: BT 4age dyno run 133.5 bhp at the flywheel :-(

Cam timing checked, we used a dial gauge to confirm tdc and the cam pulleys lined up perfectly. That is the dimples in the pulleys with the marks on the head. Vvt checked also, well I checked it operates at idle by grounding it and the engine really struggles and stalls. We then wired in a bulb and ...

Re: BT 4age dyno run 133.5 bhp at the flywheel :-(

Thanks for the replies folks. I don't have a catalytic converter so that defo isn't to blame. Re the vvt not turning off. How could I check that? I could get a led / bulb wired in. That would tell me when the ecu triggers the on and off but won't actually tell me if the vvt is reacting correctly. Bu...

Re: BT 4age dyno run 133.5 bhp at the flywheel :-(

So the question is; given everything is standard what would make the engine too rich up high. I'm wondering re water and air temp sensors. I had the air temp sensor cable tied to my strut brace over at the intake side. I've now moved that to the exhaust side. So it's going to read air temp warmer an...

No aftermarket fuel pressure reg. Do you have the afr for your power run? The dyno operator said I was too rich up high.

I hope it's ok to say this. Join ae86irl.com and put up a wanted add for a BT ecu. You should get one easy enough.

Or have a look at this site. Www.donedeal.ie. A wanted add here should also work.

I'll put a pic of my graph up tomorrow. Only 5-7 % difference between the cylinders and they all showed basically no pressure drop. The ...

Re: BT 4age dyno run 133.5 bhp at the flywheel :-(

Yes I'll start with a leak down test. If that proves ok then I'll try another dyno session (well a proper session not just 1 power run). I have a spare ecu we can try, we can also look to adjust the ignition timing. We can do a run with and without the vvt connected to determine if that is at fault....

Re: BT 4age dyno run 133.5 bhp at the flywheel :-(

At the wheels the figure was 102. I asked the guy how the 133.5 number was determined. He said using some calculation within the dyno. So the 133.5 figure may in fact be optimistic, depending on what the transmission loses really are. No CELs. Re the idle, when I had the iscv connected it would idle...

Car is ae86 with transplanted BT 20v. Yes, a chassis dyno. See here. Is there anything I can do to address that? One thing I've al...

BT 4age dyno run 133.5 bhp at the flywheel :-(

Lads, I put my BT 20V on the rollers today for a power (or lack of!) run at a club track day. I have a standard BT, standard ecu and open throttles using trumpets. I have 133.5 bhp at the flywheel which ain't good. Max power was made at 7200 and was flat till 8300 where it dropped off. The bloke doi...

What do you mean, speed cut issue? I have a BT 20v in my ae86 and it's on the standard ecu. No bogging, I've done track days (well one!) and it was fine. I wouldn't say you have to go standalone. Have you checked for blown transistors in your ecu, the sta wire, dizzy relocation kits had some issues,?
