Re: Need tire size help...
Whatever you do, I would run a square setup on a daily. Otherwise it limits your tire rotation. I can’t specify on your exact setup. How lowered is your car?

Jondee is correct. First figure out what is causing the problem. Otherwise you could be wasting a lot of time.

Re: 20v Blacktop High Idle
Not sure if this was mentioned as I didn't see it skimming through but, check your throttle cable and make sure it's not too tight. It happened to me while doing my swap. It made my throttle adjustment more than likely pointless. But I also went through the TPS and adjusted it for same measure l. Ca...

Re: Engine noise, please help, video link
I interpret this to mean that there is a part that bolts to the end of the exhaust cam that is used to drive the rotor. This part should bottom out on the face of the exhaust cam gear so that the gear is clamped against the end of the cam as usual. In your case the part bottoms out on the cam and d...

Re: Engine noise, please help, video link
I found out exactly what the noise was. The camshaft clocking pin was wearing into the cam gear on the intake side. The cam gear had play in because the distributor relocation kit part (that holds the rotor button), was tight against the cam inside but not the cam gear. Tightening the bolt more woul...

Sorry I can't help but I am curious what power you make when its said and done. Can you please post results. I'm going to "petition" for a tuning section on this site. One subforum for carb setups and one for fuel injection. A lot of good information could be gathered.

http://youtu.be/e0WjRSAo5Vs That link is exactly how my engine sounds and everyone is commenting on the pulley. I'm assuming I can have a working VVT pulley and still get the noise. I did apply 12v and although the noise was not gone altogether, it did help. After all the engine is still old and pro...

Re: Engine noise, please help, video link
Could it just be noisy valvetrain?? So, I did hook up my VVT solenoid plug after changing the intake pulley and it now engages. So my thoughts are noisy valvetrain or something to do with the SQ Engineering distributor relocation. The exhaust cam can be moved if grab the sides and rock it towards an...

I love my exhaust but it was on their when I bought it. Not sure where to buy it. OBX header, no cat, Jasma catback. Engine is a 20V but it sounded good with the 16V too. Not too loud, I'm 33. I'm getting old too lol

Re: Engine won't fire until I stop cranking?
This might seem elementary but do you have a choke on the carbs that is set up. Are you giving a few pumps of the throttle to inject some fuel? Maybe your fuel pressure is bleeding off badly. Does it help if you hold the throttle open when you first start it incase it is flooding while sitting.

A lot of times the wiring itself is not so great underneath the insulation. I agree with it being an electrical issue and could be the instrument cluster. I am having the same issue with my temperature gauge. After all, the reading is based off resistance. Corrosion (creating high resistance) will t...

From what I understand, the noise would be louder and increase with RPM. This noise goes away at 2000/2500 rpm.

Re: Engine noise, please help, video link
I forgot to mention that at idle I did plug in the VVT solenoid and there was no change in sound. My question is do I need to change the pulley before my track day this weekend? I have another pulley already on a second engine. I'm just not too excited about a late night of work before the event. BU...

Engine noise, please help, video link
https://youtu.be/l-H0TOih8C0 Well I'm wondering what this noise is. Rod knock? Spark knock (which is a term I never heard before tonight unless they mean Pre ignition) Or.... piston slap. If it's valvetrain noise then I would be surprised. I just changed from 10w40 to 15w50 and also have only put ab...

WTB: W58 parts or whole trans
Really looking for number 2 clutch hub or input shaft for the hub. Also interested in parts transmission or good W58 if the price isn't outrageous. 45241. I can pay for some of the shipping but I also don't need them too quickly. Ive really just been looking for a pair of 15s but your price is reasonable. Let me know what you can work out on a price shipped to 45241. You can PM if you want.

I'm pretty sure the springs have to do with the synchronizer keys. I'll probably just bend the plate back to the same gap if no one has any insight.

High performance street tires, no R comps as this is my first track day (HPDE). But I do plan on running R comps eventually, just not sure pads will last until then. It's at Mid-Ohio, early April for Grid Life event. Thanks for the responses so far.

If anyone has advice on tools they have used in this process, that would be awesome. I have a couple bearing pullers and a press. I found special tool 09950-40011-02 through OTC which replaces 09950-40010 in the service manual but it's $2200 now so no thanks. Thanks ahead for any help!

W58 Transmission rebuild part question/issue
Has anyone here had experience rebuilding a W58? So far everything is going fairly smoothly but I ran into an issue with the number 3 clutch hub. While removing the hub I bent the plate attached to the back of the hub. It's basically made into/onto the hub but I'm not sure what purpose it serves. I'...

Man, getting trans parts is a PITA. I have 4/6 of my large bearings and all my syncros and gaskets. I still need al...
