Gazoo Racing are making replacement looms and it seems that Toyota themselves are having issues with some of the plugs. The instructions state to re-use a couple of the connectors on the new loom.

Re: Distributor
These cars and their wiring looms are now around 40 years old and faults like broken wires are a nightmare to locate. Given we now appear to know that these crimps can cause problems should we post up where they are located in the loom when we find one, broken or not?

Distributor
Just an info. post. For anyone having problems with their distributor and in particular the pick ups inside it maybe worth checking the wiring from the plug. On two of my distributors the common ground wire (white) was breaking away from a crimped joiner that is used to split the ground. You will ne...

Re: Engine choice
I can buy a 20v silvertop head quite cheaply to try, do you know if there is any truth in coolant passages not aligning correctly with 16v engine blocks? l thought all of the later blocks were the same.

Engine choice
Based on inlet type. Sounds a bit odd but the regulations l must abide by suggest the engine must use the standard inlet type from the factory. Currently l have a 16v smallport that has all of the expected modifications, properly ported head, high compression pistons etc. but it must retain a standa...

I looked at the BC rear spring adjusters but it seems they only work with their own springs. Do you know if the pictured ones are BC? Thanks

I think that just a small amount could be used to advantage, l'm guessing here but 2° (1° in/ 1° out) would probably be enough to make a difference. I couldn't really get my head around how the short links affect what is going on, they can't physically change the arc that the links run through. lt i...

No, not going mad! It occured to me that the rear axle has an element of rear steer due to link arm angles. lf the bottom link arms point down to the axle at ride height as the car corners and weight is transfered the out side rear spring compresses (the inside elongates) when the spring compresses ...

BC springs are good for 11mm of lift and fit in the stock spring seats. I've checked - https://www.club4ag.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15683&start=30#p104740 I don't run the engine past 8200 rpm do you think those springs would cope ok? (Re. the comment about 7MG quality in the post) Engine uses...

Re: Valve spring seats
Fair point about spring rotation. l think the best way to approach this is to replace the valve springs with some that will allow 10.5mm lift and will fit with the original bottom retainer. lncidently Catcams suggest the removal of the bottom spring retainer for their springs. Any ideas for springs ...

If you want a blacktop that is pretty much what you expect to see.
If it came as a complete unit $1300 is cheap so would be worth rebuilding should you need to.

Re: AE86 MAP sensor values
The AEM ecu requires max and min voltages plus max and min pressures, it does not have a learning facility. I used a MAP enabled AE86 specific Freedom ecu to read the pressures and the AEM to show the voltages, the voltages are not affected by calibration changes. A Mityvac was used to obtain the va...

What happens if you very slowly increase the power through the problem rpm area?

Sure it's a pita to remove/replace but that is only because Toyota do things right, the hidden stuff is done properly too.

Re: I have a built 7A motor. Need some advice
If the distributor has a pin holding the gear on, remove the pin and rotate the gear 180° on the distributor shaft
Re-fit distributor as normal.
Use a new roll pin to secure the gear.
