Re: New AE86 restomod Daily Driver
This is really good. I can't honestly tell you about much reliability, but about twenty years ago when I was modding my USDM AE86's stock non rebuilt stock unopened "bluetop" I firstly used nawzz for about 5months (85hp needles). So that's about 180whp there. Then I turboed the poor thing ...

As mr2mk1hero wrote, by this time (after 25~30years of manufacture) it's really unthinkable to do work on them separately. But okay, for discussion purposes by either/or I would say Head!! Well, yeah. This file is a relatively well known, a blow-thru turbo'ed "stock" 4AC. Although, it's already more than 6 years old and these things always evolve...... or get thrown away/parted out.
But, same principle.

From what I can see on the remaining Malaysian and other far eastern forums, they would just take out the old engine and its harnass out. From the donor car they would yank its engine and harnass out and just transfer those into the recipient car. The headache(s) would be the fitment and the engine'...

By order of popularity: 1. the 1gen Celica/Supra diff, well granted these are getting hard to find by the second. .2. There must be thousands upon thousands of Hilux/Tacoma/4runners overthere so you can certainly score one with rear discs for peanuts. .3. Cressida's non-irs diff? .4. Just get the We...

BTW seeing that you want to use stock parts, what kind of clutch set you guys have?
I had stock 200mm and 212mm sets used from Fidanza, Toda etc. for the OEM flywheel. Only the one from Illegal Garage lasted more than six months. And I didn't drift my AE86 regularly, but I did dragracing a lot.

So, yeah.... I know that the rwd Starlet was available with the diesel option, the E Corolla chassis have been available with the 1C diesel and so THEORETICALLY the AE86 (wudda been a CE86 then) had that option. But then, only for JDM. Then again, in the early nineties I read (past tense) in a diges...

XCorrect me if I'm wrong, but.... strictly speaking, a turbo manifold/header is really not an issue restriction wise as is the actual turbo. Well Jondee, the MAP version can cope with that set of cams. There's still overfueling at the top end at every flatchange(powershift), you know. Thing is while the HKS cams do help to boost power overall, the 101 Webcams gives the 3500 to 6000 rpm range excellent oomph.

Which why I said, for the most part stock-cammed. In fact, Paradise racing was one of them running low 8s with stock cams when they were campaining their old AE86. So, I think to run single digits with a built engine running stock cams you must additionally have at least a short length big runner in...

Jinx, you do realize of course that the DSM 4g63 is a 2L engine versus our 1.6L/1.8L 4AGE/7AFE. Okay, and speaking of bigger engines.... The Tacoma's turbo 2RZFEs being used by the boricuas in dragracing still are for the most part stock-cammed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AoeYvixNk4 https://ww...
