The ecu i have is a ae86 16v map ecu (jdm ecu.) I was told it was a pnp ecu.
Please tell me if I'm wrong. Been reading on other old forums and many say i need to move pinouts and wires around.

Re: MAP Conversion Problem. No Start.

I had the same problem recently (no spark) and was due to a bad igniter. Ae you currently a map setup or the regular usdm maf setup? My car was running good with the old maf setup but now that I've changed the harness and everything. it doesn't want to start. It just turns over. Might just throw in...

MAP Conversion Problem. No Start.

Hey everyone. I have a bluetop 4age 16v stock and converted my engine harness to a map harness. I also changed the ecu, distributor, and ignitor as well. I set the correct timing on the engine but it doesn't start. At first it seemed as if it would start but then shut off quickly. Now it just turns ...

yes... the current strong compression readings do show solid compression rings... it doesn't tell us a lot about the oil control rings, but if she doesn't smoke... she should be good to go. I'm not sure about the "ted" head gasket, but I believe you mean the TRD .8mm. I'm not sure if it i...

Re: N/A Build! Need Assistance

I would like to run the itbs because in my opinion they sound awesome and give the engine bay a bit more style to it. But ill probably put on hold for now, maybe later on in the future if I go for a more serious track build. NOW! Ive got some great information. This friday that passed I decided to p...

Re: N/A Build! Need Assistance

THIS is important.... ***IF*** you want to be anywhere near clean... you need to chose VERY carefully... The more duration you add, the less chance of passing emissions. The 193B will likely never pass... this is primarily because most emissions based states require a maximum idle speed... the over...

Re: N/A Build! Need Assistance

Harold... I again refer to yoshi's customer's engine, and my engine... both of these engines are great mix engines, suitable for street and track. Both of our engines run 226 degree cams with lifts under 8.5mm. Yoshi's client uses the Tomei Poncams, while I use Web camshafts medium cam (grind 577)....

I believe shimless is quite a bit cheaper, but I could be wrong there. It's been a while since I looked into it.

Whats the difference of shimless and shim under?
Also whats the pros and cons of both?

Re: N/A Build! Need Assistance

The standard 193 series are all designed to be run with stock buckets. 193HV all require shim under. You will need upgraded springs. With the 193b I would aim much higher than 11:1. To increase compression you can either increase dome volume or decrease combustion chamber volume. So all that I need...

Re: N/A Build! Need Assistance

Back to topic; I think an 11.4:1 static compression ratio, as calculated earlier, should be obtainable without crazy piston domes and should perform well with the 193-Bs. Pair that to a decently massaged head and you'll have a lot of it sorted. Alright that sounds good. Now my question is would the...

Re: N/A Build! Need Assistance

Ive been told that in order to make great power with 4age and itbs you'll need to run a high compression. That's like saying to be a really fast running you need good shoes. It's part of the equation but without the rest done properly it's useless. People who say things like that likely don't know ...

My budget is about 4k, but no thinking… Is it worth staying with the 16v or is it better to do a frankenstien build or full motor swap such as a 20v or even 3sge beams.

So I've decided I'm using my wiseco high comp pistons.
Now I'm wondering if the stock valves and springs can take cams of 272 duration and a 7.9mm lift. The cams I'm looking at are toda cams with that same spec. Will i need to buy stronger springs and valves?

Re: N/A Build! Need Assistance

the flatter the crown, the better flame propagation (better burn), the Wiseco pistons have a peaked crown, not as good for flame propagation. As you reported the compression height is 1.207" (30.65mm), that is likely to stick above the block even before the block is trued(machined for straight...

Re: N/A Build! Need Assistance

These are the pistons OST is talking about. They are only designed as 11.2:1 CR but could go higher with a head shave. You do need to be careful because it uses the cast area of the head as squish so if you shave it too much it could hit the head. Should be able to shave at least .5mm without probl...

Re: Black Top ITBS On 16 Valve 4AGE

Either are good options but you would want to get a full 20v longblock. Getting the head then piecing all the pieces to make it work will take more time and money in the end. Yes you will need to address the firewall issue.[/quote] Okay. So now that I know that 20v is out of the picture. Which head ...
