Re: Who runs without timing belt covers ?

With a high compression engine that is no longer non-interference, I wouldn't dare risk my high dollar engine for something silly like that. I guess it comes down to whether you'd like to look at it or drive it.

Re: Inconsistent Charging.

I fought similar problems with those cheap Chinese "rebuilds" from parts stores. I spent 3 weeks of misery testing every wire, connection, and ground before buying an OEM Toyota alternator. Slapped that baby on and haven't had a lick of problems since. Pony up the cash and buy a quality pa...

Re: 20v Aftermarket ECU Recommendations

It takes 2 hours to assemble a DIYPNP Megasquirt kit. It costs half of what the next comparable ECU costs. What's not to like? The write ups and massive number of people that have done the Megasquirt mean a TON of knowledge out there if you have problems. Take the time to assemble and learn MS and n...

Re: 4AGE 16v no injector pulse

Both sides of the injector have battery voltage when not firing. The ECU grounds the circuit to fire the injector. Most cases, the ground on the intake manifold (between 2nd and 3rd cylinders on top side of intake mani) is not good. Check that ground first. A quick way to test this is to directly gr...

Re: JDM Map 4age in US AE86

As I said in my previous post (and write-up on the old-old forum) there is no noticeable power difference between the AFM and MAP setups. The SOLE reason I did the swap was to get the 0-5 volt MAP sensor that was compatible with the SAFC-II I was wanting to use. It served its purpose, but all in all...

Re: Runnung 3.9 or lower final drive with stock motor?

I've kept the stock 4.30 ratio, but I did install the M-Factory .773 5th gear. It brought the revs down to about 3200-3400 rpm at highway speed which I feel is very sensible. It is an easy install, and well worth the money in my opinion. I installed mine in about 1.5 hours including pulling the trans.

Re: JDM Map 4age in US AE86

Hey Ronny, hope you see this. I got your PM but I can't respond because I'm a noob (ha!).

Good to see you around still. I'll see if I can get a couple more posts and respond.

Re: JDM Map 4age in US AE86

I'm the one who did that write up (I was bluekouki86). Its not terribly difficult, but isn't going to unlock some magical power. I did it so I could run an Apexi SAFCII to tweak the fuel after certain modifications. The stock AFM runs between 0-9v DC and the MAP sensor uses 0-5V DC which is compatib...
