If your breather system is still factory it won't work as the inlet manifold is now + pressure ! So this could be a contributing factor !

I'm doing a similar thing but going turbo. My car is a KP60 Starlet. In the UK things like a T50 gearbox and RWD inlet manifold are very hard to find so the word 'Budget' doesn't really apply. A RWD water pump is also impossible to find here so I just made an alloy pipe section to run from the back ...

From memory I had 0.25 piston above block with a standard head gasket and haven't had issues as of yet.

To run both a SC and TB is a lot of work, there's a thread here somewhere.

Basically it can be done, but not worth the hassle as modern ball bearing Turbos spool up so fast anyway.

I'm currently building a 4AGZE but dropping the SC for a TB.
