Re: Restoring AE86 w/ 4AGE 16v + HKS ITB + Haltech E6X
I love it when the things work out like that. Sometimes I wish all cars have standardized mounting points. But then I think about the cost and time associated with getting everyone to agree with anything. Still waiting on the T3 seat brackets on my end. I'll write up a installation review when it's ...

Thanks for taking the time to write up what you did. Seems pretty time consuming to get it all lined up correctly. Good work nonetheless. I took some time to blend the trumpets today. http://i.imgur.com/mFq7nhll.jpg It's somewhat better, but I'm very picky. Perhaps I'll just modify a SQ-eng or T3 se...

Those aren't bad actually. I saw a drifter with the same setup around here. He had to angle the pins a bit backwards towards the firewall for the pins to slide into the holes.

i just lower my hood onto latch gently and then apply pressure with both hands on the hood directly above the latch. not sure if it works as my clear coat is clearly cracked now. lol. womp womp. I noticed when I do that, the hood noticeably flexes as the CF isn't that strong. Thanks for tip though....

So I guess you just have to idle higher? Or do the COP properly hahaha.

Just to satisfy my curiosity. What's the downside of running COPs this way? Is there any possibility of causing misfires? EDIT: Found some people with the same conversation: Original statement similar to mine: This means firing at the bottom of the intake stroke. What keeps the charge from preigniti...

Re: Running a 20v st on cops
Interesting. Hahaha "white man's magic" I could see compression might be the cause. Or spark duration. That's good food for thought. I'm thinking sequential injection should not matter as completion of intake stroke would always suck in a good air fuel mixture regardless of injection strat...

I'm sorry but this is not something I'd recommend. You're going to ignite on completion of intake stroke.

Your original post is about starting issues, have you checked to make sure the basic stuff? Like you're getting fuel and timing? From my experience, that's what I worked on to get my engine started.

Re: 4age ITB and Cam starting issue.
TPS sensor is usually the preferred way of tuning ITBs due to not enough air vacuum making its way to the MAP sensor at near wide open throttle. So thus it's harder to tune near WOT (I'm currently facing this with my ITB setup) Usually TPS signal is used in conjunction with a barometer (using a MAP ...

Re: Running a 20v st on cops
As far as I can see blacktop is still running pointer type distributor with cam position sensors for ECU to time sparks. The output of ECU controls timing for the ignitor to fire, and the pointer in the distributor chooses the right cylinder to fire the spark. the 4AGE ECU only has one output wire. ...

Good luck Deuce Cam :) Question for Deuce Cam and strmrdr23, what did you do to get a lightened hood to latch properly? When I was fitting the hood, I could not push the latch in and get it to lock. I didn't want to crack the new hood so I ended up taking the spring off and test fit it that way. I w...

4age ITB and Cam starting issue.
There are a few ways ECUs measure airflow for the purpose of looking up fuel injector timings from a fuel map. MAF(usually used in tandem with a plenum to measure how much air was drawn in by the engine) sensor, MAP(measures air pressure created between throttle plate and engine) sensor, or Throttle...

My thoughts on the T3 setup... I've never tried it or seen in person, but the seat mounting points (slots) on the side mounts look really high. It might not be bad when used with their brackets since they're low profile with no slider. (The sliders are probably around 1" in height.) Yeah I tot...

Thanks for the update jondee86! I also didn't know the stock seats were dual locking as well. That's good to know. I'm curious how your setup will turn out
Has anyone made their own custom mounts? Seems like one could make one if they have the right tools and materials.

Hood fitment Just got word from Seibon today about the missing holes on the hood for the hooked pins. They told me to use a stepped drill bit to make two circles and a dremel to connect the two circles. I measured out the holes and they are ~18mm wide, that's ~.70inch, so the closest drill bit size...

I think the FG rail wouldn't work well for my seat because I need to bolt the seat in with the side mounts like this: └ ┘ and the unlocking mechanism will be behind the side mount
And the memory fab is only one side locking. Ugh, back to square one.

Re: How did you improve your fuel economy on a 4ac?
About the only easy change is the exhaust system. Look at headers and low restriction pipes and muffler. A better exhaust will reduce pumping losts. If the exhaust is custom, get anti-revrsion in the primary header tubes. You will probably have to adjust timing because of the improved scavenging. D...
