Built 1G-GTE engine
How's it going club4ag fam, I got a 1G-GTE engine for sale with lots of goodies. If you're interested you probably already know about this thing and the potential it has. Would be a drop in swap for A Mk3 supra FWIW. Also comes with OST-049 port and polished head, there's a whole thread on here with...

Speedometer inaccuracy
What's up C4AG? I recently did a W58 swap into my blacktop Corolla and the speedo is way off, 25% approximately, ie traveling 75mph when the speedo says 100mph. So prior to the W58 I removed the gauge cluster and dialed it back as much as it would go which made the T50 perfectly accurate as the spee...

Re: Cross Plane 4AGE
This is an incredible idea. From a tuner’s perspective, as long as I could set base timing, firing order, and base firing event in degrees of crank rotation I don’t believe there would be an issue running a COP setup for this cross-plane engine. From there it would be a straightforward catalog and ...

North county San Diego here. My car should be back on the road soon. Let me know if you guys set something up. Yo! Where at in north county?? I'm in oceanside I'm about to have my car back on the road again too, been stuck on a W58 swap that's had me bogged down for months. Doesn't help that I work...

It's not just regrinding the cam, it's putting the lobes in different places, and a cast iron blank, before factory machining, just doesn't have metal where you'll need it. Get a sawsall, learn how to weld REAL WELL, cut & paste crank & cam. Ignition, I'm clueless. Only reason I said 'regri...

Re: Cross Plane 4AGE
Agreed jondee, I can't see any particular reason to need to change much of the basic design of the components. Maybe have the cam maker machine some new gear teeth on the cam to properly indicate TDC for using the stock cam position sensor? The base engine I'm starting with is a late AE92 4AGZE with...

It's a bit late here across the pond, or I may just be dense, but I'm not catching the pun.... Sorry... might have been a bit obscure. I was referring to the fact that the primary motivation for making a crossplane inline 4 cylinder is for the sound of the exhaust. So... sounds like an awesome proj...

Alright C4AG... I've seen it discussed several times across several forums, but I want your opinions, not "should I or shouldn't I" but what you think it would take to successfully assemble and get a cross plane converted 4A running and what would be the best way to go about it. Just like ...

It's really not too bad, i did it that same swap intomy 74 celica and it was pretty straight forward, considering that block actually belongs in a corolla it should make it that much easier for you, granted you have all the original parts that go with your 86. (Transmission, motor mount brackets, wi...

Sultan, I've read some people have issues with the VVT engagement on 20v engines with the reduction in oil pressure from an oil cooler, have you noticed any problems like that? Also, is your 20v a silvertop or blacktop?

Go with weirs sc/turbo axle kit, expensive but will hold way more power than what you're looking at. I have it with a Kaaz 1.5 LSD bolted to one of his chromoly gear sets and it is a very nice setup. Definitely worth the peace of mind.

For all you other GZE folk out there.... You could always try and snag a pair of early large port cams (1984, 85, possibly some 86 4A's) supposedly the early blue tops had 240 duration instead of the late 16v 4A 232(?) Duration. Can't say for certain about the difference in duration but the early ca...

Re: 20v Blacktop Spark Plug Wire / Ignition Questions
I used NGK spark plug wires from, IIRC a 96 4runner 4 cylinder, it's the one with the 3rz before they went to coil on plug. They are totally plug and play other than not having the rubber boot to cover the plug tube on the valve cover. I improvised with the plug wire boots that came with my back top...

Re: 20V Blacktop intermittent misfire
OK... I was just wondering if your plugs might be overheating and causing a little bit of detonation... just enough to have the ECU knock back the timing ? As said above, if the engine is running a little lean (maybe due to open throttles ?) then it will likely generate higher combustion temperatur...

20V Blacktop intermittent misfire
Greetings once again C4AG! So I finished the bulk work of getting my 20VBT swap done in my 85 GTS hatch, just ironing out the little kinks and tying up a few loose ends, good news is... it drives! Surprisingly well at that! Hands down one of the easiest swaps I've done, random issues wise that is. I...

I've looked into the lightweight crank and accessory pulleys also, I decided against it in the end based on some horror stories I read on the 4G63 mitsu forums about having a lack of damping in the aluminum crank pulley wreaking all sorts of havoc on their highly tuned interference turbo engines. Gr...

Unfortunately I've found there's no way around this other than getting down and dirty. I'm super anal about my ride height being equal all around so you have no clue how many hours I've spent jacking the car up, fiddling with the rings, setting the car down, measuring, etc. Ran into this issue when...
