Re: 1984 AE86 4AC issues

The master cylinder push rod end goes into the booster, that end should be tilted down. The outlet is where the brake lines attach. You pump the M/C until you no longer have any bubbles in the brake fluid, then install the M/C. Now that the M/C is installed, l would try jacking up the front of the ...

Bench bleed, is just filling the master cylinder on the bench before installing. It lets you angle the M/C out-let ports upward while bleeding so you do not have any air trapped inside. Davew7 Outlet port is the end where it goes into the brake booster correct and that side is facing up? So all i h...

Start at the rear longest brake line. Did you bench bleed the M/C for installing?

Re: AE86 Transmission Issue

Clutch is not fully disengaging. Check the fluid level and check the clutch pedal adjustment. Tranny should be OK... what you have is normal when the clutch is dragging. If the clutch starts to bite when the pedal is barely off the floor, you need to adjust the pedal higher so that the clutch doesn...

I have a ae86 that starts but it just takes a bit of cranking for it to start idling? It doesn't sound too healthy when it's idling either. What can i do?

I press the gas a couple of times when I try to start it because i heard it's good for the carb.

My buddy told me that there is also a seal that is on the end of the driveshaft where it connects to the transmission, is that true? could it be that leaking?? 1) I noticed a small leak from transmission area and when I have the car jacked up in the front, it'll leak even faster. Where are common leaks? If oil is dripping from the front bottom edge of the bellhousing then it could come from the rear crank seal or from the gearbox input shaft seal. If it l...

Front end accident... slide into a curb with the brakes locked up? If you cant adjust the tie rods enough to get the alignment straight, something is bent. Probably something along the lines of a bent tension rod or partially crushed mount. Easiest way to check is get the car up on safe jackstands ...

Re: AE86 Blue Top issues.

I've had the first issue before. Believe it's just a fuse in the driver's side kick panel fusebox. The third one sounds like a misfire once you're at the tail pipe. Could be as simple as a spark plug gap too far out of spec or a stuck injector. You can disconnect the plug wires one by one and see i...

Re: AE86 Rough Start up

This is a tricky one :? And because the problem only exists for a second or so when starting, not easy to diagnose. I'm leaning towards a fuel supply problem but it could also be an electrical supply problem. It's almost as if the car first starts on two cylinders and then all four kick in and away...

Re: AE86 Rough Start up

With the diagnostic port shorted you should get a steady flashing of the engine management light (EML) on the dashboard, it should not be on solid. Jondee will chime in I'm sure but l think this could be a TPS problem where the idle switch is not engaged in the TPS, effectively the ecu looks at the...

Re: AE86 Rough Start up

OK... we need to figure a way to get the fuel pump to run for a couple of seconds before you try and start the engine. If shorting the FP test plug didn't work ( and it should have) there is another way. You need to take the airfilter off your AFM (Air Flow Meter) and while the key is ON, push the ...

It sounds like it is over fuelling but I'm not sure that there is an error code for that when the engine is first started as the O2 sensor is not reporting. Have you checked for stored error codes? Cranking speed sounds about normal to me.
