Re: Removing 4ag 16v Head
my timing belt still fairly new. Im actually relocating to Nebraska in a couple weeks so this is a shopping list of parts still. Assembly lube along with any tools like a valve spring compressor i know I'm gonna get. I don't mind spending some extra on tools that will make the job a lot easier. So w...

Re: Removing 4ag 16v Head
good point, its would be worth it to get a kit as well. are shims still available at the dealer? do you know of a kit with various sizes?

Removing 4ag 16v Head
Will be removing the head soon to replace a head gasket. Oil is leaking underneath the dizzy clearly coming from the gasket. Between the dizzy and head gasket it is clean and dry. from what i seen on the FSM the oil passage going to the head is right there as well. Anyways, I'm putting a "shopp...

Re: Bluetop 16V + Poncams + Pistons = ?
I've translated enough of the manual to find you can adjust the ecu to engine model: 2E-E, 2E-TE, 4A-GE RED AND BLUE, and 3S-GE. Also depending on fuel injector sizes to these motors ranging from 145cc to 295cc via rotary switch internal Fuel 1 changes fuel throughout entire rpm range up to (+\-)15%...

Re: Bluetop 16V + Poncams + Pistons = ?
Many people have said 272 on stock ECU (redtop ecu Bluetop motor in my case) was able to run so if can't get to run right with my plan, I guess I'll put back the old ecu and work on a new one. There just isn't many options for a jdm MAP setup that I have found unless I haven't looked hard enough. I'...

Re: Bluetop 16V + Poncams + Pistons = ?
However, I would suspect that any modern programmable ECU would be capable of delivering a better result (full versus limited adjustability). Cheers... jondee86 Not disagreeing.... BUT.. the tune MAY be far more comprehensive if the parameters are complete, and the adjustments just fine tune it.......

Re: Bluetop 16V + Poncams + Pistons = ?
does the ECU have any adjustments? If not, I'd run the TRD part number and see if I could find the specs of the engine build that ECU is designed to run.... Yep, four knobs. PN 89661-SP501, it's been floating around the forums before from what I have found. from what I understand it's used with trd...

Re: engine wont start after warmed up normal driving
That dist. cap looks pretty normal/unremarkable & shouldn't have caused any warm start problems. If you don't like the ascetics or the slight resistance increase, just scrape it off with your favorite knife or screwdriver or scissors & it'll be fine cause 40,000+ volts doesn't disappear tha...

Re: Bluetop 16V + Poncams + Pistons = ?
sorry, dont mean to steal your post or anything, but i plan on doing this same setup. currently have a bluetop which is using a redtop ECU. Not sure if there are benefits but i've purchased a TRD ECU, would that be overkill for this mild setup?

Re: engine wont start after warmed up normal driving
found my problem, distributer cap was nasty enough that #3 did have the worst resistance check of them but was still within the limit from the book. from looks i didn't think it was TOO bad and wasnt a big deal so was overlooked and was starting cold no problem. but now it restarts no problem. Thank...

Re: engine wont start after warmed up normal driving
Update: ran fuel pump for a few mins by jumping terminals per diagnostic, left spark plugs out to see if I could smell any fuel, none whatsoever. My starter cranks no problem and continues to crank numerous times. I did however notice #3 spark plug noticeably wet and piston is wet of suspected oil l...

Re: engine wont start after warmed up normal driving
Makes sense, when I did remove my fuel pump and disconnected lines, there wasn't must fuel coming out so maybe it's not holding pressure well. I'll check it out. Thanks!

Re: engine wont start after warmed up normal driving
Normally I would follow the troubleshooting tree from the manual but it only talks about not starting at all. Something must be getting a bit to warm for immediate restart
