4ag Vibrant Vacuum Block Kits
Hey guys, The past couple months I started a project where I wanted to attach my Vibrant Vacuum Block to the side of my 4ag, and keep everything tucked away and hidden. I don't really have the tools to do any major fabrication in my garage, so I decided to 3D model these little mounts instead. I ini...

Re: My red hatch (fix-up and restoration)
Gottcchaaaa... Very good to know! I think I might be okay since my cams aren't as aggressive as your poncams from a degree standpoint. I had Dan (oldskewltoy) source me some Cat 244 / 8mm lift cams. What compression ratio pistons did you get? I'd be very curious to see what kind of numbers you will ...

Re: My red hatch (fix-up and restoration)
Moving onto degreeing the cams here, which I've never done before, so it was very good to learn the process and practice it many times until I felt comfortable that things were set correctly. How much (if any) did you have to adjust your cams to get them set? The picture looks like your cam gears a...

that would be an expensive motorsport, to start with a brand new $9 gran *shell*.... only to go get banged up But hey, if there is a market fot it. Prolly more directed to renewing some of the many 'rust buckets' out there I hope they put enough recycled sardine & tuna cans into the metal mix, ...

Even though the quality aspect might be questionable, I'm stoked for it. Especially for a motorsports application where you need stuff to be disposable.

Re: Saving a crusty 16v 4age
When you reassembled cam gears and timing belt, did you just set the adjustable gears to 0 until you get the engine running to do a finer tune? I have some Toda cam gears, and I'm wondering how to set them for the initial start up... Also, what did you paint those cam covers with? The rough black p...

Re: Saving a crusty 16v 4age
Killer job on the engine and it looks great! Depending on how long the engine will be setting [YEARS?] You are probably better off letting it set with the assemble lube Vs running the engine and then setting. Look at high zinc or break in oil for the first start. Not a fan of test beds for engine b...

Saving a crusty 16v 4age
It's a slow day here at work, and I realized I haven't shared anything on the spare engine I've been slowly rebuilding over the past 2.5 years. This is my first time breaking an engine down to bare components and rebuilding it, so this is more of a learning experience than anything. This is going to...

Re: Question on Digital Gauge Cluster (sensors)
Morgan is correct, for the oil pressure it's just a pressure switch; on/off. However the coolant sensor is just like the normal single-prong ones. This is on my GT-Apex Levin.

So, its been a while since I logged on here and I realized this was a sh*tty way to end a thread. The car didn't just sail away into the sunset ... I ended up selling it to a good buddy of mine here at work. His name is Ryo, real big into drifting in Japan, and is working here in the USA for a year....

Re: Fujitsubo Legalis R vs Reinhard Stainless
I have the Reinhard stainless. It is shockingly loud with testpipes. Probably too loud for 80% of people for street driving. And i haven't taken the silencers out of the tips yet.. Just to follow up with that, I actually have the OBX knock-off of the Greddy DD Trust on my coupe. I think it sounds r...

Re: Keeping it simple and stupid.
You will have to pull the engine so you can "V" notch both sides of the crack. Find a weld shop that does cast iron and has Nickelcast rod. Welding cast iron requires a very clean surface and pre-heating before welding. Do you have or are you using the engine to trans brackets that tie th...

Re: Keeping it simple and stupid.
After the tune I began driving it around town, slowly breaking the car in. I noticed the AFR values would sweep full rich to full lean, back and forth constantly, so much that you could literally feel the car bucking. This was only at partial throttle too. At idle or wide open throttle, the values w...

I wouldn't mind owning one, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it. If I do, it would be solely for the motor to do something stupid with!
I think it will sell like crazy once its officially released. I'm just glad Toyota is finally making cool cars again.

So ... while taking my Levin to the track is fun and all, I realized I would never feel comfortable enough to push the car/myself to the limit. Its basically a 2nd 401k at this point. Then again, its too fun to not take it to the track so I found a solution ... ... buy a 2nd one! There's only one go...
