Re: OST-071: For an AE71 - Largeport for a liftback
So... the first order of business is to acquire a 4AGE - not so easy anymore, this one took about 2 months for my client to find. https://gallery.ostportworks.com/albums/userpics/10005/engine_arrives0.jpg It is an early 1989 (10/1988 built) 4AGE (vin number tag on engine traced using toyodiy) that w...

OST-071: For an AE71 - Largeport for a liftback
I was contacted during mid summer by this client. I had just begun OST-070, and he wanted OST-071 for his AE71. https://gallery.ostportworks.com/albums/userpics/10005/recipient_AE71.jpg As you can see, it currently has a clean 4AC engine in it...... https://gallery.ostportworks.com/albums/userpics/1...

Oldeskewltoy, Also, I tried plugging in your flow data and the results weren't that great. I'm not sure how this software calculates efficiency but basically the cfm data says these heads only flow 49% efficient, and I didn't even get 100hp on the "dyno". That didn't sound correct in my o...

Use pattern in FSM. TRD recommended 48ft/#s(650±20 kg・cm). I recommend doing it in 3 passes: 25, 36, 48

Hey, my 16v bigport blew headgasket few days ago and i want to swap it to .8mm trd head gasket to have little bit more power. My engine is completely stock but im going to get the head resurfaced. Re: OST-069: Transformation
SO another Newbie question  36cc vs 37cc, is there a sweat spot on a 4age, or is this just to get the correct combustion ratio? What is the standard chamber volume, on a 16V Big port? We are fine tuning final compression ratio. In this case 36cc along with his piston choice, and gasket choic...

The efficiency ... What would be a more appropriate value to use? You'd be the guy who would know! Stock bigport vs a port job completed by you. I just estimated 75% since the B-series head was a little over 75% too. Same "style"; twin cam, 16v, etc. And the valves, there honestly wasn't ...

Re: help a n00b build a 1.8L 4age?
Since you need reliable info... a few corrections.... intake valves are not 29.5, but 30.5. Stock chambers are 36cc
And since you are playing.... what happens if you change the valve sizes from 30.5 to 32, and from 25.5, to 27.5
As to efficiency... how did you calculate that...?????

I can ask Loynings...... The end goal is a reliable HPDE weekend / backroads "touge" racer; plenty mid-range power with a decent torque curve. And still be able to drive to work on Monday with no problems. above is why I recommend going with something a bit less challenging**.... maybe BC ...

over coming "challenges"...... Essentially this is a 2 part job - part one, build the foundational parts(rear cover), part two - make a filler panel . So, the filler panel would need to be light, and strong, and easily shaped - that would hold its shape. https://gallery.ostportworks.com/al...
