Re: Newb question on how to guide for ITBs on JDM 4AG Bluetop w/ MAP

... definitely keep us posted on progress! I know I'll be paying attention. The thing to keep in mind is that the amount of power that an engine can produce is directly related to the amount of air that you can get into the cylinders. Changing the induction system from a single TB to ITB's has very...

Re: Newb question on how to guide for ITBs on JDM 4AG Bluetop w/ MAP

Just checking that you are doing the currency conversion right...
NZ$5000 = US$3150 or thereabouts. And if Barry's (MRP) price includes GST
to can take that off anything exported from NZ.

TWM now BORLA... smallport only... https://www.borlainduction.com/2000-series.html#200040 I don't know much about them as after looking around I decided to make my own manifold. Intake theory says you design for a certain length from the open end of the bellmouth to the valve head... length depends ...

If money was no object then I would have had these... https://i.imgur.com/RlM2sql.jpg ... and a forged engine with big cams running on ethanol :D TODA stuff is nice but I like the idea of the throttles and injection being further outboard and the one-piece throttlebody and manifold. Re: Gonna start a build and see where it goes ===> TWINSCREW !!! :-p

Be interesting to see how you work through electrical vs mechanical challenges. I'm hoping that there won't be much in the way of electrical problems. I don't really want to get involved with figuring out CAN-BUS issues !!! At the moment I have a Stage 1 MHD engine tune and a Stage 3 XHP transmissi...

Re: AE86 Rough Start up

This is a tricky one :? And because the problem only exists for a second or so when starting, not easy to diagnose. I'm leaning towards a fuel supply problem but it could also be an electrical supply problem. It's almost as if the car first starts on two cylinders and then all four kick in and away ...

Re: AE86 Rough Start up

OK... we need to figure a way to get the fuel pump to run for a couple of seconds before you try and start the engine. If shorting the FP test plug didn't work ( and it should have) there is another way. You need to take the airfilter off your AFM (Air Flow Meter) and while the key is ON, push the f...

https://www.club4ag.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11360 If you can find the "T" shaped plug, use a short piece of wire or even a bare metal paperclip as a "jumper" to short or temporarily connect the two pins on the plug. Turn the key ON while the pins are connected and you should h...

Re: AE86 Rough Start up

Cranking speed sounds about normal to me. If you were to turn the engine off straight after it started to run clean and smooth, and then start it again, would it still struggle and shake, or would it start up like normal ? I'm wondering if it is getting enough fuel for the first crank. If you have a...

Re: AE86 Rough Start up

Any chance you could post a video of the car starting up ? Right from the
moment you switch the ignition ON and hit the starter would be great. Just
a vid of the tacho with the sound of the engine so we can hear/see what
you are hearing and seeing :)

You missed this part... https://i.imgur.com/B83XnTo.png Once the bearing has been "snugged down" by tightening the nut to 21ft-lb and turning the hub a couple of times, you have to back the nut off until it is just finger tight. Then you set a very light preload by turning the hub until it...

Re: AE86 Rough Start up

Cold start injector does not affect how fast the engine cranks. But if it is not working it will affect how long the engine has to crank at normal speed before it catches. If you have a timing light you could check the ignition timing while the engine is warmed up and idling. You should have around ...

Re: AE86 Rough Start up

Sorry... got my posts mixed up :? Is the battery getting weak... cranks slow until it catches ? Easy way to check is to jump start your car using another car with a good battery as a booster. If the engine starts easily without struggling then your battery needs load testing to see if it is still up...

Re: Knock sensor on 3 rib block

The factory spot on a smallport is high on the block, intake side, between cylinders 2 and 3. That is the best position but you should be able to find an unused 8mm tapped hole somewhere on the intake side if you use a "donut" type sensor. If you want to use an OEM Toyota sensor I'm pretty...
