Re: Red Top Piston Max HP limit
On a related note. For "3rd party" cast pistons, which don't already have a coating (whatever it is that was done on OEM 10.3:1 pistons), would having the domes ceramic coated help when pushing for higher-than-stock HP? I'm guessing it at least helps with heat dispersion and so prevents h...

Re: Red Top Piston Max HP limit
There isn't a horsepower limit... there is a tuning limit. There is a "flaw" with all the n/a pistons for the 4AGE... the 2nd compression ring rests on ring land that is not well supported (piston on right in photo) http://ost.ebeans.ch/albums/userpics/10005/ring_land_support_slot_vs_holes...

Re: Newb question on how to guide for ITBs on JDM 4AG Bluetop w/ MAP
I guess that was my question. Will there be any potential engine damage for driving around with a vehicle that is not properly tuned (not for very long), but am assuming at least 100-200 miles before the ITB kit and the standalone ECU is installed. being 100% honest... I don't know...odds are there...

Re: Newb question on how to guide for ITBs on JDM 4AG Bluetop w/ MAP
Can the stock JDM 16v ECU run the car ok ? "Ok" - a lot would depend on what ok actually means... but it should run on stock JDM management, how well is another story... The stock computer uses a whole bunch of different parameters(stock engine), you have changed many of those... so, it s...

Sorry this is my first appearance... I typically avoid ITB threads... they aren't often needed(my 140+ whp smallport runs just fine on a single T/B), and if not done correctly can and often does cause operational issues do to poor set-up (mechanical, as well as from a management POV) I am absolutely...

what does "tumbling" the head consist of? Is it similar to tumbling bullet casings? Not sure (tumbling bullet casings...???) What "tumbling" means in this case is they have a large tool - it consists of a large cabinet, with a rotisserie that you strap the head too. The cabinet ...

Does anyone really need a 300mph 1000hp sportscar ? Youtube is loaded with videos demonstrating that such vehicles are not a good match with the driving skills of the people who can actually afford them. So I don't think that the drivers of lifted trucks are the only ones compensating for their sho...
