"wiper blades oem ones are available....not at dealers though...."
What to order from who? Torparts? <G>
Got some universals on it now but would prefer to put but the originals, which are much smaller.

Re: Gts door pockets
I'm just amazed at what the dealers still find, or don't find. Like no original wiper blades, as if blades take up so much space on the self? Or the way interior carpets all went away in 1995 or so...just when they might need replacing. (Same for seat upholstery or seat sections.) And someone still ...

"I would seriously do something about the lighting." Don't be too cruel. When the GT-S came out, it had state of the art radical new HALOGEN headlamps instead of plain ones. They're still competitive with regular headlights. But I have to agree with you, properly aimed HIDs put the old stu...

Heel melting off the shoe? Congratulations, you're a professional track driver now.<G> You might want to ask the guys at SummitRacing or someplace similar about Nexus heat wrap and heat shields. Wrap the header to insulate it, add more insulation under the body to keep the rest of the heat out of th...

Very interesting, Henry. I'd point out that I also prefer glass BUT the only real weak point of plastic is that it hazes after a lot of sunlight. And since our RFPITA headlights are pop-ups that can be kept out of sunlight when they are not in use....there's finally and advantage to have pop-up head...

If you mean red red, AFAIK they never made them. (Could be wrong.) The early 1985's and 1985's only shipped with some dark maroon interiors, probably what you need if you're looking to match a "red" stock interior. But a lot of folks have done real red in their interiors--that's never stoc...

Seems that Toyota is running at least 4 different cuts of that commercial. The AE8x with the pop-ups is only in the longest version, it was cut out from the other three shorter ones that I saw.

Looks incredibly clean. These cars have just been recognized as collectibles in the last year, first time concourse in Cali, so having the original engine block with all matching numbers should increase the value of the car in coming years. You can certainly pull the engine, rebuild it, cc it, port ...

Code 6 is the "RPM signal". It means no signal was received on the G or NE lines, which are redundant coils on the distributor that tell the ECU that the distributor is turning, and presumably the engine is running. Look for the pack connector coming off the distributor, if you are lucky i...

Offhand, the CEL jumper is one of the two yellow? green? plastic plugs that used to have rubber caps on them, hanging on the firewall, passenger side. If you mean diagnostics port? No.
You jump the check engine light connector, and then watch the CEL blink inside. There are only ten codes for it.

Re: bluetop injector & A/C Lines
You may want to check part numbers for the hardlines. Many parts are not the same, not interchangeable, because there were two different AC systems installed in every model. One installed "at the port of entry" and mistakenly called "factory" air. The other dealer-installed, and ...

Does the temp gauge in your dashboard work? It can take five miles, five minutes or more, for a Corolla to reach and stabilize at operating temperature. If the gauge is coming up so the needle is on the "E" in temp, or something near that, it is heating up and stabilizing and that means th...

That sounds like your overflow bottle is overflowing as the engine heats up. That's not a leak, that's an intentional overflow. Re: coolant.....
Do you mean it is leaking from where the overflow hose connects to the radiator cap? Or the overflow bottle is overflowing? Or it is leaking from the radiator cap? Or the hose itself has split and is leaking? Too many folks use anti-leak antifreeze, which is actually a bad thing unless you have leak...

I don't know how much of the harness is shared by the headlights and other lights but if you don't find them all chafed in one place, the one thing they definitely have in common is the turn signal/high beam combo switch. Or the connector coming off that. Could be the switch, or the connector, as we...

You won't find many oem parts for a 25+ year old riceburner. And they're probably too lazy to use the internet or the fax, which CAN get all those parts from junkyards all over the country. But any junkyard can bring the parts in for you, the same way. They can get the hood the same way, they'll jus...

I see there are some cheap "conversion kits" being sold but that still leaves two issues. They still use external ballasts, they are not just replacement headlights. And then there's the question of whether the HID "capsule" can properly be focused by a conventional headlamp. A f...

Calm? Who's not calm?
I certainly don't want them, I've got a pair of the rare real things, with DOT certification. And ballasts, and relays, and all that's involved, which is more than just "bulbs". "Bulbs" is the tip-off they can't be real HIDs.

Sometimes the wiring or contacts in a plug are corroded and simply replugging them cleans them enough to work, at least for a while. You can check out the turn signal switch and headlight switch by unplugging them and using the multimeter although you'll need a wiring diagram to get the pinouts righ...

Re: hid head lights
True (and legal) HID headlights are rare for these cars and use an external ballast so you can't just swap out lamps to plug-n-play.
Some pictures and a brand name might help, because there's a lot of "HID-ish" lamps out there but very few true HID lamps.

Re: Smog Test help
If you are blowing coolant out of the reservoir and the car has not been overheating, the radiator cap could be bad. Or, you could be blowing past the head gasket and into the coolant, and that would also account for an emissions problem. I'd suggest checking that out before anything else because a ...

Emissions: Good point. The exhaust is still "combusting" while it is in the pipes. I failed emissions once when there was a rust hole in the muffler, or just ahead of the muffler. Apparently if the gas didn't mix and flow right, all the way out, the emissions were affected. New tailpipe, s...

You guys make it sound like a POS. It isn't. It was a very cheap car which sometimes means it got bought by new or cheap (or both) owners, who rode it hard and put it away wet. Sometimes it just got bought by cheap owners who knew that a car was cheapest when you didn't skip the maintenance though. ...
