Re: Removing stubborn bushings
if you're talking about the metal sleeve that's normally around the stock bushing, that needs to STAY IN the arm. Burn or press the stock rubber bushing out, leave the metal shell/sleeve in, and put your poly bushings in.

Do you know if anyone has ever used these on beams 3sge using the Xcessive adapter? I think the TB spacing may be off from OEM by just a tiny bit.

Re: Oil Temp sensor mounting??
I use a Blitz sandwich adapter (similar to what jondee posted) Works fine for me. Plus it's mounting surface is larger, so I can now use the larger diameter filters, which is nice.

I get the same message every time I log in too, even though I know i'm typing my password correctly. No matter what I have to do it twice, and even though I also have the "log me in automatically" button checked, I still have to re-log in almost every time I visit the site.

$300 for stock tails? That a joke or did you add another zero by accident? I paid less than that for redlines.

Re: New to 86's, Tire/Wheel Question(s), GTS Hatch
thats totally up to you, and how you want your car to look. Also has a lot to do with your suspension setup and what wheels you want to buy. Some wheels will only give you 1 or 2 options for different offsets, while others might give you 10 or 15..

Re: The 50MPG Beams AE86 Build
i think the cheapest/smallest one they have is about $1000-$1500 give or take. Most are in the $2000-$4000 range. Then you have to figure in you'll need all custom brackets, brakes, driveshaft, etc. Plus someones labor for fabrication time if you cant build a jig and do all the welding yourself. EI:...

Re: The 50MPG Beams AE86 Build
Out of curiosity, do PowerFC or AEM actually support continuously variable valve timing? Also, does that 3S have continuously variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust? I'm involved with writing the firmware for MS3 and we support up to 4 cams with continuously variable valve timing, but...

He didnt ask how to make it rwd. He asked how to make it into an ae86. All the fab skills in the world wont accomplish that, because it is impossible. Thats like saying if you have gardening skills you can turn a tomato into a turnip.

well its essentially a zenki 6.7 rear end with the smaller axles, no disc brakes, and the suspension mounting points dont match up with ae86 for it to be a direct swap.

You could just be like me and take that money you were going to use on a 20v and buy a beams 3s and make 210whp with just quads and a tune, plus you get an extra gear!

that means its also not a 7.5"
so the rear end you're selling is worse than a GTS rear.

Re: which engine has more potential for more power?
You say a 20v can be "tuned further" than a 16v, which has been proven to not be true.
also Yoshumitspeed has posted dyno charts of basic 16v engines with just matrix garage pistons and tomei poncams making 140whp. That's more power to the wheels than any stock 20v I've ever seen.
