Re: Finding true TDC on a 7AG
Here is another way of finding TDC on a 7AG without a piston stop. Using the 7A oil pump and oil pump cover with the 7A crank gear, line up the timing marks from the crank gear versus the oil pump cover. Ensuring that nothing will move, remove the 7A crank gear and install the 4A crank gear then cr...

Re: Finding true TDC on a 7AG
This is an interesting thread :) Since I haven't quite wrapped my brain around all this yet, would potential 7A C builders have to deal with this too? I assume for a 7AC build you'd use the 4AC lower timing cover, crank pulley, and crank sprocket, but IDK for sure. But when in doubt, it makes sense ...

Re: TE72 project makeover.
I work for a Benz dealer and found a color that was very close to the corolla's original silver with just a bit more metallic in it. I love the way she came out!! Wow, you've got some great pics in this thread! :) Quick question: what silver is your car painted? Is it the silver metallic that AE86's came with from the factory? The paint looks so close to my car, but mine was repainted before I bought it (pretty sure the color is slightly different too) Thanks...

Re: looking to wire my corner lights as my blinker! HELP
I've been thinking about doing the same thing lately. The LED route would be awesome, but considering the wiring would be pretty simple I concur with the alternating blink method. If you Google around you can find some write-ups and wiring diagrams. Here's a cool video I found of them working: http:...

Nice 1980 coupe toywagon82!
Quick question for you on this:
Looks like... 80's Celica or Supra seats? If so, did you swap the seat rails or did they bolt in?
Thanks and good luck with your projects!

Thanks man, I've had a bit of experience behind a few MIG machines when I was in school. Now I have a Lincoln 140HD MIG of my own that I can use whenever. I need to go ahead and get my air tank for it so I can stop using Flux but it all seemed to hold fairly well and most welds will end up covered ...

Did you have to modify the transmission tunnel to fit the 1UZ transmission? (W58?) I noticed you modified the firewall, but it came out nice (subtle)

Wow, props to you on tackling this yourself (and good for you for not scrapping it like the guy on craigslist suggested)
If that was your first time welding it came out great; I'm especially impressed with your metal forming.
Keep at it

Re: My AE86. SR5 to GTS, and other little things.
I did it myself. O'Reilly has a compression tester rental tool. What you do is take out a spark plug and thread the compression tester in there. A "Dry non-running" compression test on a brand new engine is normally around 120. You crank it for only ~2 seconds, then check to see what you ...

Re: My AE86. SR5 to GTS, and other little things.
I'm still working out the details. Essentially you get a few different AN adapters. M18x1.5 to a -10 or -8 AN. Then get some stainless lines, and run it to an oil filter adapter plate. I'm using an Earl's adapter plate for a 4AFE that has two 3/8" threaded ports. Uses the same oil filter, so i...
