More progress removing parts... http://i.imgur.com/27oKeo6.jpg Eibach springs just like the rear. Wow that's a crazy thing to find. Almost like that other guy who bought theirs and drove it about 10km to his garage and never took it out again. :P

Looking forward to hear the story! Are you planning on driving it?

Re: My red hatch (fix-up and restoration)

The third winter I've had my car is approaching, so it's time to get started on more restoration work. This time I'm focusing on the front of the car. I am still debating whether I want to sandblast everything and paint with POR-15, or sandblast everything and powdercoat. I'm thinking POR-15 is stil...

Front Indicator Light Housing

Here is what I'm looking for:
Image

If you have both sides I'll take both, but I need the left side more than the right (both metal threaded parts snapped in half).

It doesn't matter if the orange cover is broken or missing. Let me know, thanks!

Re: Harness recondition

I am actually curious about this myself. Replacing all the brittle connectors and old wiring and loom would be a pretty fun project.

I've searched for this kind of thing before, but all I seem to get is results for the 20v 4A-GE not the 16v. :(

Why not just get the stock exhaust off of Rockauto? I don't think a larger exhaust will do much for the 4A-C.

Re: 1st time AE86 owner, how about you?

Nice find. If you're truly wanting to hold onto the car for a while then I also think that rust repair should be your first priority. By repair I mean cutting the rust out completely and welding in new metal. ;) It will be a lot of work, but well worth it in the end when you have a nice sturdy frame...

I asked a friend who had deleted the IACV, cold start injector, and egr and he said his car fires up and runs fine. Your friend is lying. :P The IACV raises the idle to help with cold starts. If you removed yours then *you* have to be the IACV (as in keeping the idle up with the gas pedal). See her...

Re: AC Idler Pulley Advice

Instead of replacing the pulley, could you try to find out what bearing it uses and just buy a new bearing? You should be able to press the old one out and put the new one right in. Found an unrelated, but maybe helpful post: http://club4ag.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=5895 They mention a PFI...

Do you drive the car with the wheel caps on? I have heard of them flying off so I don't even put the ones I have on. :\

Re: A/C question and one other concerning GT-S swap

How do you deal with idle-up stuff with side drafts? I'm kind of curious. For example the A/C idle up raises the idle to about 1500rpm normally. One more thing I would urge you to do is replace all the o-rings and the schrader valves with the lines off the car. Even if the system was tuned up 4 year...

Re: A/C question and one other concerning GT-S swap

I believe AC lines are the same between the GT-S and SR5, and I think you're right about just the compressor clutch being different. The electrical harness is different between them and you have to swap the computer board inside the AC evaporator as well. You can access the AC harness and the evapor...

What kind of insurance do you have on your AE86?

I am curious to hear what other people do for insurance on their cars. Do you have collision insurance on your car? Only liability?
Do you tell your insurance the actual value of the car? (ie. how much you could actually get for it)

Re: Fair price for a brand new engine and dash harness?

Well since OEM complete harnesses are going for $200-300 now... I'm guessing a new engine harness would be around $1000? That sounds crazy, but once you price out connectors, wires, heatwrapping, etc... I have a feeling prices would have to be in the $800-1000 range. I wish I could buy a brand new h...
