Re: Issue with manual rack conversion
A friend of mine had this same problem. The rubber on the intermediate shaft was accidentally removed before he installed it. Then whole column felt loose. I dont remember the exact product but there is a rubber made by 3M that you can fill the column with and then install the shaft. Let it harden o...

I daily my car in the summer time with 8/6kg. It can be stiff but it is definitely all relative to you. I personally dont think its that bad as everyone says. Sacrificing comfort for fun is how I see it. I have to drive nicely on the streets but then I get to enjoy mountain driving more.

Kinda depends on what your goals are with your car. Do you want to get groceries in it or fly into turns at 90 mph sideways while smoking a cigarette and not spilling the tofu?

Re: Opinions on Sr5 20v swaps vs GTS 20v swaps and conversions and everything else
elaborate? USDM GTS's carry an AE88 code. The VIN is different, the chassis code (AE86) is the same, i don't know anybody who thinks that/cares about the VIN. As for the question i say tinker with SR5s not GT-S, and i don't care about decals unless there's a 4AC under the hood. Had to add another q...

Re: Opinions on Sr5 20v swaps vs GTS 20v swaps and conversions and everything else
As long as all the decals match, then im good.
Not sure what to say about the 20v gts vs 20v sr5. Most people gravitate towards GTS for the rare factor and less work in the long run.

New way of communicating. A lot of people use facebook now. Some people still hang around here. AE86fightclub was made to weed out the "noobs" from the AE86 community. It is just another click and if your not part of it, then your not cool lol......right. Anyways there are still people pos...

Re: front whiteline sway bar issue
Thanks for the input. I ended up going with a cusco front sway bar. I do not touch the sway bar anymore. However, with the T3 beefy boxy LCA's they limit how much of the steering rack you can use (atleast on my setup). This is due to the LCA being big enough to where the outer tie rod end touches th...

Re: engine wont start after warmed up normal driving
When its warm and wont start, trying doing the basic checks: 1. Check for air (any blockage) 2. Check for fuel (return line/fuel pressure) 3. Check for spark There a couple parts that could cause this issue (i.e. fuel pressure, injectors, coil/ignitor). Once you do the basic check, we will know for ...

Re: UPDATE 4age silvertop lean. VVT unplugged runs better
If you can, please provide a list of your setup as well as a list of the things you have tested/checked. This will simplify some of the confusion. 1. What type of ECU are you running exactly. A BT M/T ECU or a BT A/T ECU? Part number helps too. I can crack mine open and take a look if you have an A/...

Re: UPDATE 4age silvertop lean. VVT unplugged runs better
Have you checked your cam timing yet? Have you tested the STA wire for continuity and tried shaking it to make sure there is a good connection? Sometimes you may not know how something works but you can test to make sure its input is not broken (in this case the STA wire). There are multiple people ...

Re: Corolla GTS/SR5 for a first car?
I personally disagree with a lot of these guys. Get the car your heart really wants... in this case an AE86. The fact that you want one so bad will force you to keep a job to pay for repairs and will also force you to possibly look into getting an education/career to pay for even more. It sounds sil...

1st one is a resistor box for the 16v 4age largeport AE86. Not sure what the second one is. Dont have that part on my BT 20v.

Re: UPDATE 4age silvertop lean. VVT unplugged runs better
If I remember correctly, it would run better at higher revs. It was doing it on idle and partial throttle. It was almost a year ago so it is hard for me to remember the exact details. Hope this helps. You could rent a fuel pressure test kit from a local auto parts store and check your fuel pressure....

Re: 4age silvertop lean EDITED
I had a similar lean issue with my BT 20V and A/T ecu. It turned out to be the fuel pump. I just got a standard replacement for an 86 Corolla GTS at the local parts store and that fixed my issue. Another problem that can cause you to run lean is an exhaust leak before the O2 sensor for the ECU. I am...

Re: COP's on a silvertop using oem ECU and other 20v Q's
1. I am running 1nz cops on stock BT ecu. The problem with running cops is that each cop is fired whenever any of the others are fired. So that means each cop is firing 4x as much as normal. I have also noticed that the BT20V ecu is quite smart. So it eventually tries to hold back timing with COPS i...

Inspection of T50 outside of car
Hey guys, I recently got a couple T50 transmissions for a good deal and now I am curious if it is possible to tell if they operate correctly outside of the car? So then I dont go through the hassle of installing everything to find out it cant shift correctly. They're from an SR5 so I would hope they...

Re: Knocking - TVIS? Rod? Worn Cam Lobe?
You could try getting a stethascope from your local auto parts store and listening to the engine. Then you will know the general area where the knock is occurring (which will narrow your possibilities down).

Re: 4age running rough, I'm stumped, pls help
If there is a sensor that is critical to the engine running correctly that is not working, then it it needs to be fixed. Otherwise you are trying to guess one problem while another is happening. O2 Sensor needs to be hooked up. After some googling: http://club4ag.com/tech-data/tech-specs/4a-ge-16v-u...
