Re: Feeler: 7x6 HID/Projector Retro-fits

As promised, these are the images of my 7x6 retrofit projectors on my own ride. This set was the first set I've ever made (had to go through trial and error on my own expense first). Sorry, but I couldn't get any cut-off beam shots since.. well.. there isn't a wall in front of the driveway and my ca...

Re: Feeler: 7x6 HID/Projector Retro-fits

How much if I provide you with my hella e codes? I'm not familiar with Hella E-Codes and their fitments since I never used those headlamps before, but then again.. it should be pretty straight forward since it's 7x6 lamps. However, I'm more concerned about the glass lens. Are they clear lens or pat...

Re: Pumping Brakes = Stall?

Thanks for the tips guys. Disconnected the booster vacuum lines and plugged the port on the intake. Took it around the block a few times and no stalling issues what-so-ever. But of course, that's because the booster was running off of straight foot power.

Plastic lens/face. I'll be using Pilot Headlamps. Same as the one pictured above.

Pumping Brakes = Stall?

Thought I'd like to hear some feedback from the community. When I pump my brakes repeatedly, the RPM starts dropping until it eventually stalls. I'm already assuming the brake booster is the culprit since I had it sitting on my '86 for the past 5+ years... so there might be a good chance the diaphra...

Re: T50 problem with 5th gear and leak

One thing I've never heard of is starting a fire underneath the car while doing donuts.. even with a leaky transmission or not. But, I guess theres a first for everything. I don't think the T50's 2nd gear syncros runs the same with 5th gear, in matter of fact.. I highly doubt it. Your tranny might b...

Manual Rack Conversion Inner Tie Rod Q&A

In the process of fitting my new AE86 P/S Inner Tie Rods onto my AW11 Rack. Just realized the AW11 Manual Inner Tie Rods comes with a 4.2mm spacer. Was wondering if I should use this spacer along with the AE86 P/S Inner Tie Rods or use the original lock ring that came with the AE86 Inner Tie Rods? W...

AE86 Manual Rack Q&A

Sorry guys, it's been too long since I dove back into this subject. I know this has been asked again and again countless time befores. I've had these parts sitting in my closet for over 3 years but before I start tackling my power->manual conversion process, I'd like to make sure I have all parts in...

Re: Brake Proportioning Valve Issue

EPDM? Very interesting. I wonder how using DOT5 affects that picture. (Put mine in 26 years ago, knock wood.) Interesting the way so many companies want you to have your brake fluid tested, not just changed on schedule, these days. Brakes ain't just brakes anymore. Yea, I didn't realize there was s...

Re: Brake Proportioning Valve Issue

UPDATE! PISTON REMOVED! Thanks to everyone for their ideas and suggestions, especially Red. I eventually took a blowtorch to the BPV and it came out with ease. Albeit, ruining the o-rings in the process but those had to be replaced anyways. FYI: Only use EPDM (ethylene propylene) o-rings for brake ...

Re: Brake Proportioning Valve Issue

Another option would be to shoot PBlaster into it. That would hurt any o-rings but you'd want to replace those during a rebuild anyhow. Maybe try that first, before the oil. Tried it, done it. :P I've had the part soaked for 24 hours in a synthetic rust remover bath called Metal Rescue, it didn't w...

Re: Brake Proportioning Valve Issue

" and Toyota want over $200 for a BPV" Sometimes the are plain old fashioned f*ing nuts. Last time I needed a windshield, Toyota wanted over $900 for just the glass. SafeLite did the whole installation for something like $250. Maybe putting the entire assembly in a pan of oil and heating ...

Re: Brake Proportioning Valve Issue

Inertia - you want it to move one way so hit the body holding it the other way. Tap or maybe even a screw extractor. Get a black rubber cork with a hole in the middle of it, oddly still sold by Ace Hardware in the drawer of nuts & bolts & odd parts, and bolt or jam a Schraeder valve fitting...

Brake Proportioning Valve Issue

I'm in the process of rebuilding my brake valve since the piston is stuck but I have no idea how to go about removing it. Any ideas/suggestions? I've included 2 pics to show what I'm on about. I feel as if this simple piece is often overlooked when it comes to braking performance. Kudos, Jay http://...

Re: What is wrong with my motor-arrrrrrgrh!!?!

oxygen sensor MAYBE, make sure the intake tube from the AFM to the manifold is good (no loose clamps or anything), and make sure the injectors are grounded well (brown wires that bolt onto the intake mani). o2 sensor is new, no vacuum leaks either.. I ran a smoke test on it already. And all points ...

What is wrong with my motor-arrrrrrgrh!!?!

My car is pissing me off. I just restored it myself and I'm already thinking about selling it.. but that's for another topic. Not selling till I actually enjoy driving it again, which as of now.. I can't because the engine is having issues. First off, I rebuilt (or should I say "overhauled"...
