Re: AFR's with stock BT open ITB's.
If these AE111 ecu's are as smart as everyone says, they should feel the detonation/ping via the knock sensor and pull back timing...No? Yes... that's the reason for having a knock sensor :) And the fact that the BT runs 11:1 compression, is another good reason for not messing with timing or fuel, ...

Re: AFR's with stock BT open ITB's.
The BT engine is pretty well optimised from the factory. The factory ECU is also smart enough to know when the sensor inputs are different from what the factory decided. It will either compensate to bring the readings within range, or throw a fault code. The recommended base ignition is between 8 an...

Re: AFR's with stock BT open ITB's.
Those mods won't make a lot of difference to the amount of air going thru the engine, so the ECU should be able to handle fueling no problem while running in closed loop. And I would expect your engine to run rich at WOT with the stock ECU (most Toyotas run rich at WOT). So again I don't think you w...
Re: Audio

Re: BT20v Options for Dizzy (other than fw hole and relocati
The difference between sequential and wasted spark is not worth worrying about. So long as the spark happens at the right time on each cylinder, the result is exactly the same with distributor, COP or wasted spark. Most modern multicoil engines run wasted spark... heck, guys are going to the trouble...

Re: BT20v Options for Dizzy (other than fw hole and relocati
The GZE coils are 2-pole coils, and you can use them, but you would be running wasted spark rather than sequential ignition. I actually have them on my 16V with a Subaru 2-channel igniter, and drive it using two ignition outputs on my aftermarket EMS. It works fine. You don't need the GZE cam angle ...

Re: BT20v Options for Dizzy (other than fw hole and relocati
I want to avoid cutting my firewall and avoid relocating the dizzy to the front. I was hoping as well to be able to keep using the black top spark plug cover too. If you want to retain sequential ignition, you will need to get four small single pole coils, and make a nice bracket to mount them on t...

Re: 4age loses power at 3500rpms
If the engine runs fine except for a loss of power in the top end, then it is unlikely to be an electrical issue. Electrical faults typically give rise to missing, backfiring, sudden loss of ignition, no start when hot, smoke and ocasionally flames :o Loss of power without any other problem will usu...

Make sure the igniter is securely bolted down with a good ground
contact on the chassis. If that's good, check your ignition timing.

Start over and do the cam timing from scratch. Take the crank pulley off and all the timing belt covers. Check the key is still in the slot and that the crank timing pulley is on the key. Make sure the belt is still on the crank timing pulley and the guide plate is facing the right way. Replace the ...

http://home.onthenet.com.au/~paulp/corolla/4ag-fault.jpg I'd guess that you have a ground problem... possibly one of the ECU grounds. Re: 4ag swap starts then dies
The pickups inside the base of the distributor send signals to the ECU to tell it the engine is running and the injectors need to be fired. If you have a broken/shorted wire/plug not pushed home/bent pins around the distributor, that can stop the injectors from firing. The igniter generates an IGf s...

Re: AE82 wont start! HELP :(
Yes... AE82 does not prime when the key is turned ON. But it is forced to run when cranking, and the cold start injector in the side of the manifold should squirt gas. Once the engine fires the Circuit Opening Relay should hold in and keep the FP running. Happens a bit differently between AFM and MA...

Re: Idles lower when cold.
The thermostatic idle-up valve (AAV) is under the throttlebody and connects to the engine cooling system thru two little rubber hoses. If the valve is still there (nor removed or blocked off) then both of the rubber hoses should get hot as the engine warms up. If only one gets a bit warm and the oth...

Re: Does it matter where you put your External Fuel pump?
What would happen if I put it in the engine bay ? SR5/4AC has the pump on the engine. But it is a low pressure mechanical pump and can generate enough suck to pull gas uphill from the tank. Most high pressure electric EFI pumps seem to be centrifugal type, and don't make much suck... so they might ...

Big job... expensive. You would most likely be better off buying
a nice, clean SR5 shell with or without engine, and swapping all the
GTS parts over. Tough break, but if you got out of it without injury
you can call yourself lucky !!

I don't think that the pumps are self-priming, so you need to keep them low... below the level of fuel in the tank... something like this... http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i273/nunuland69/My%20Car/ExternalFuelPump007.jpg http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?id=79577 Cheers... jondee86
