Re: Buying an ae86 as a first car (again)

Dont buy a corolla as a first car. This is what i foresee, if you get a ae86 as your only car, you will have to do a lot of work to it and it will be sitting more than you driving it. You will get fed up with it and have to sell it and lose quite a bit of money, no one wants to pick up someone else'...

Re: Kouki Coupe | Carb'd 4AG!

^ Couple things. First, look up the price of Keihin FCR 41mm carburetors. Second, if you don't have access to precise machinery (a GOOD and I mean GOOD mill) it will be hell. Third, you need to be REALLY good with a TIG welder (or know someone who is). Fourth, Nothing lines up. How do i know, look a...

I really do miss the old site, maybe just because it was A LOT more alive. But to go with the thread Your a (coupe) AE86 driver when random people come up and say " Don't you wish that was a real AE86" Your an AE86 driver when people ask what is that noise your car is making, and your repl...

At first glance it didn't look great, but it has grown on me. Once i see it in a color that i like then i will make my final judgement lol. But I really want to know what they have under the hood. I know they were talking about have it a inline 6 to keep it in the same fashion as the 2000gt and Supr...

Port Request

If anyone has a big port head at hand, would you be kind enough to measure the length of the intake port. A rough but close measurement from the port opening to the top of the valve seat.

Im currently making a new intake and the only big port head i have is on the car.

Re: Carb and dizzy help

Well like i said the edis set-up is a little bit more, the megajolt jr. cost me 165 new. and everything else you need (magnetic pick up, edis, coil pack, and the trigger wheel) can be picked up at a junkyard off a ford escort. I spent a little bit more because i just didn't feel like welding on the ...

Re: Carb and dizzy help

Im not saying the 6AL set-up is bad, plenty of people use on the 4age and it works well. But when pricing my every thing for an ignition a new 6AL (about 200) and a new timing retard (about 150). The megajolt jr setup was only like $50 (and could be a lot cheaper because i bought a crankpully with t...

Re: Carb and dizzy help

I'm not arguing the fact the EFI is bad, never have. I know it is better, specially now a days that injector technology has gotten way better. And I'm not talking about Car companies they have much more stuff to deal with, I'm talking to the "tuner". If you compare what you have with carbs...

For out right power EFI all the way. But for most power levels that people run on the street, both can be achieved easily with either carb or EFI. But the one thing i noticed. IF you know what your doing carb can be cheaper, have the same mpgs, and power. But most people don't know what they are doi...

Re: The greater search for knowledge

Like everyone said FSM is something really nice to have, takes the guess work out of everything when ordering parts ( if your going for a complete OEM rebuild). But, if i may suggest, if you don't have much mechanical experience working on cars. One of the first things to get done on the car is repl...

Re: Carb and dizzy help

If your going to be spending money on a haltech, you should just use injectors and make a better intake manifold, you will get more power that way. But if you are dead set on running carbs and the ignition system of choice (or what i think and probably many other think is best) get yourself a megajo...

You know that question you had about ruining the performance of the header. You probably just did that, post pictures of where you hammered. If you hammered the collector, you would have messed up THE part that makes the power.
